OPEN CONE INTAKE The Revo open cone Air Intake System for the 2.0T Gen3 engine improves performance and offers an aggressive intake sound. Ensuring your engine can get access to enough air is paramount when increasing power; more air means more power throughout the rev-range. Only Revo Air Intake Systems are specifically designed to work in harmony with your vehicle and Revo ECU Software. Engineered to directly replace the stock airbox, pipework and filter, this kit comes complete with a silicone hose, aluminium pipe, heat shield, filter, machined turbo coupler and fitting kit. KEY FEATURES Increased Performance (+12BHP +23Nm) Improved Air Flow Efficiency Three Stage Foam Filter with Mesh Direct to turbo fitment OEM VS REVO When you begin to enhance performance, the restrictive OEM intake struggles to flow enough air, robbing the engine of power. The Revo Air Intake System removes these restrictive elements promoting smoother airflow. Open Cone systems replace the OEM air box to make space for the heat shield, filter and silicone hose which joins directly to the turbo. Revo Flush Fit silicone hoses avoid unwanted turbulence at joins, and increase the rate at which air can flow ensuring maximum performance at any level of tuning. SILICONE HOSE The Revo silicone hose as an increased inner diameter that gradually tapers from hard pipe to turbo to optimise airflow. Designed to directly replace the plastic hose and turbo elbow, this upgrade reduces restriction and maximises smooth airflow improving both power and torque throughout the rev range. A machined billet bung is integrated into the hose, connecting the stock PCV system vacuum. TURBO INLET The Revo machined inlet replaces the restrictive elbow found on the IS20/IS38 turbos. The billet aluminium inlet securely fits the OE unit using locking tabs and integrated O-rings. With almost double the cross-sectional area compared to other available products, air can stabilise and distribute before a smooth tapered transition to the turbo. Removing the internal steps between components further ensures uninterrupted airflow and removes any unnecessary turbulence. HEATSHIELD Ensuring the engine has access to cold air is vital for performance. The Revo heat shield channels cold air from the front intake duct while partitioning the filter from the heat of the engine bay. The Revo Heatshield uses the stock mounting points to provide easy and secure installation. FILTER An intake system is only as good as the filter. This kit comes complete with a custom Revo foam filter, supported by galvanised epoxy-coated mesh for strength under load. Revo three-stage foam filters work very differently to conventional paper or cotton-gauze alternatives designed to trap particles on the outer layer. Revo filters trap debris and particles within the foam layers, allowing air to still navigate through. RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT All Revo products are designed in-house and are rigorously tested utilising an in-house 3D printer, latest CAD and CFD programs, hub dyno and Revo data acquisition software. The Revo intake allows the turbo to run more efficiently, intake a larger volume of air and minimise turbulence to increase both power and torque, as highlighted during controlled dyno testing. PERFORMANCE DATA Back-to-back testing of the stock air intake system and the Revo kit were carried out. Fitted to an Audi S3 (310PS Model) with Revo ECU Software, Revo Intercooler, Revo Charge & Throttle Pipes and Revo Downpipe. The results show improvement throughout the whole rev range. The Revo intake offering an average gain of +12WHP, and +18NM torque over the stock part. Increased airflow also delivers impressive peak performance gains of +19.4BHP @6000rpm and +55NM @2400RPM over the stock intake system. AIRFLOW To evaluate the efficiency, the Revo Intake was tested for inlet charge pressure and mass airflow. Boost pressure was measured and an increase in charge pressure was seen across the top end of the RPM range, as detailed in the dyno graph. Intake mass airflow logging showed similar results to the charge pressure, showing considerable increases at the top of the RPM range. MACHINED INLET The machined inlet replaces the restrictive OEM plastic elbow and is designed to securely fit the OE unit using locking tabs and integrated O-rings. Only the Revo intake kit features an inlet almost double the cross-sectional area. This means air can stabilise and distribute before a smooth tapered transition to the turbo. A constant taper in the hose ensures a smooth transition of airflow from the air filter to turbo and results in an increase in air volume over the stock part. Further helped by the machined inlet that matches the turbo inlet for the ultimate in airflow characteristics. DYNO GRAPH Testing was carried out on an Audi S1 2.0 TFSI (6 Speed manual) with Revo Stage 1 Software fitted with the OEM system and then the Revo Air Intake System. With a consistent gain throughout the rev range, the Revo intake offered a peak gain of 12HP at the hubs over the stock part. A maximum increase in airflow of up to +16 kg/hr gives impressive gains of 13HP @5100rpm and 18NM @5100RPM over using the stock intake system. In our search to extract more power from the mighty 4.0 TFSI engine, we quickly found that the stock air-box and filter became a major limitation for the car. During research and development, our in-house engineers worked with both the S7 and RS7 to analyse and compare the differences in each intake system, and how efficiently they performed. The direct replacement kit, which includes an RS7 air-box, Revo ProPanel filter and stepped silicone hoses was installed and tested on our in-house S7 development vehicle; the results were staggering. On our Dynopak hub dyno we saw dramatically improved power and torque throughout the rev-range, with consistent gains of +21WHP and +24NM with our Stage 2 software installed. BENEFITS Increases power and torque +21 WHP and + 24 NM gain OEM+ Look Custom designed Silicone hoses Revo ProPanel filter AIRBOX The S and RS air-box may look very similar at a glance, however after analysis and testing of both air-boxes, it was quite clear that the RS air-box had a tremendous amount of potential with a few essential improvements. The two inlet pipes have a larger 100mm diameter, allowing more air to flow with much less restriction compared to the 85mm stock air-box inlets. Revo software really allows the car to utilise this increase in airflow, all without compromising on the OEM look of the engine bay. SILICONE HOSES To compensate for the larger outlets on the RS7 air-box, we designed and developed two larger silicone hoses to join the air intake system to the engine. Revo’s flush fit designed silicone hoses connect to the air-box without any internal restriction, minimising turbulence and allowing a smoother flow of air to maximise performance. REVO PROPANEL FILTER The standard paper filter found in most vehicles performs well under normal conditions, however with increased power it becomes a major choking point in the system. Revo ProPanel filters work by trapping dirt particles within each of the oiled foam layers while allowing air to negotiate its way through, reducing restriction and offering much longer service intervals. We tested the filter at a leading motor testing centre ‘Mira’ on an industry recognised dust load test. On a full dust load test the foam filter was found to still be 99.3% efficient, filtering down to 5 micron while offering the least amount of restriction over similar products. FULL KIT The Revo 4.0 TFSi intake kit comes complete with RS7 air-box, Revo ProPanel filter, silicone hoses and fitting brackets. The kit offers an OEM+ look and fit, with no required modifications to the vehicle, finished off with an aluminium tag. Silicone Hose The Revo silicone hose is designed to directly replace the plastic hose and rubber corrugated parts. An increased inlet diameter of 21% reduces restriction and promotes smooth airflow while an integrated wire helix reinforces the hose and prevents collapsing under negative pressure. Machined Inlet The machined inlet replaces the restrictive OEM plastic elbow and is designed to securely fit to the OE unit using locking tabs and integrated O-rings. Only the Revo intake kit features an inlet almost double the cross-sectional area. This means air can stabilise and distribute before a smooth tapered transition to the turbo. Filter and Heatshield Ensuring the engine has access to cold air is vital for performance. The Revo heat shield channels cold air from the front intake duct while partitioning the filter from the heat of the engine bay. The Revo Heatshield uses the stock mounting points and rubber mounting bushings to provide an easy and secure installation. Research and Development All Revo products are designed in-house and are rigorously tested utilising an in-house 3D printer, latest CAD and CFD programs, hub dyno and Revo data acquisition software. The Revo intake allows the turbo to run more efficiently, intake a larger volume of air and minimise turbulence to increase both power and torque, as highlighted during controlled Dyno testing. Airflow An overall air volume increase of 50% over the OE part allows for faster and increased airflow. The carefully designed silicone hose has its own support bracket mated to a machined hose fitting, maintaining the correct position during engine movement. A constant taper in the hose ensures a smooth transition of airflow from the air filter to turbo and results in an increase in air volume over stock. Further helped by the machined inlet that matches to the turbo inlet for the ultimate in airflow characteristics. Dyno Graph Testing was carried out on a VW Polo GTI 1.8 TSI (6 Speed manual) with Revo Stage 1 Software fitted with the OEM system and then the Revo Air Intake System. With a consistent gain throughout the rev range, the Revo intake offered a peak gain of 20HP at the hubs and 20NM torque over the stock part. A maximum increase in airflow of upto +16 kg/hr gives impressive gains of 27HP @6100rpm and 30NM @4600RPM over using the stock intake system. In most vehicle applications, the corrugated turbo inlet hose found in the intake system is not designed for performance or modification. It was designed to get the job done, and when adding a performance filter, intake, or tune the stock inlet hose can start to show it's weakness when suction from the turbocharger is increased. The ECS Carbon Fiber Turbo Inlet Pipe was designed in-house and made with high quality hand laid carbon fiber layers providing a strong and secure fit. A smooth interior provides unimpeded airflow, while the carbon fiber exterior adds an appearance upgrade to any engine bay. PART DESIGN The carbon fiber pipe is constructed from 2x2 twill weave carbon fiber, gloss clear coated for UV and heat protection for continuous operating temperatures of up to 300°. Designed to fit perfectly in place of the factory accordion pipe, our CAD design assures a smooth gradual transition from the intake/airbox to the turbo inlet. The included silicone hose couplers allow clean fitment of any intake setup; The smooth, straight coupler is used with a hard mounted intake pipe configurations to the engine (such as ECS Kohlefaser Luft-Technik mounted to the cylinder head) The accordion rubber coupler is used with OE-type mounting configurations (such as OEM airbox) PERFORMANCE FEATURES With its smooth interior surface as compared to the OEM accordion tube's ribbed, turbulent interior you can expect a smoother transition from air filter to the turbo inlet. A direct replacement part that offers increases in performance and response, the enlarged turbo inlet elbow features a freer-flowing design with an increased internal diameter. How it worksThe original elbow gradually tapers down from the 63mm induction pipe to just 48.5mm as it enters the turbo, despite the turbo’s inlet measuring 51mm in diameter. This causes an unnecessary restriction within the intake side that hampers flow and limits throttle response. Our AIRTEC Motorsport direct replacement elbow features a CNC-machined flange with a correctly matched 51mm diameter, therefore removing the stepped restriction. The high-quality silicone hose instantly tapers to meet the 63mm diameter intake, therefore allowing the maximum amount of internal flow with increases of nearly 10%. The elbow upgrade includes all fixtures and fittings, as well as detailed instructions. The increased volume and improved design works to reduce restriction and improve flow to the turbo, providing an increase in power and response.
