As part of our expanding BMW N55 product range, AIRTEC Motorsport are proud to launch our cold side boost pipe kit for track or fast road use. In original form, due to the thin plastic construction these pipes are known to split or fracture even at standard levels of boost and when pressure is increased with a remap they are more prone to failure. Our direct replacement pipe is made from high quality aluminium that can withstand any increase in boost pressure and also features a larger internal diameter for improved capacity and flow. The pipes also feature a 1/8 NPT meth injection port and a CNC-machined flange on either end that retains the original o-ring and spring clip to ensure a perfect fitment. The comprehensive fitting kit includes a Pro Hoses silicone connector, all fixings and fittings, and jubilee clips, as well as detailed installation instructions. A direct replacement that offers increases in performance and response, our enlarged cold side boost pipe kit replaces the hoses from the intercooler to the throttle body with a freer-flowing design that offers increased internal capacity. The original hose is 53mm in diameter and follows a series of relatively tight bends. We developed an enlarged hose kit that measures 63mm from beginning to end, offering a significant internal capacity increase of 19%. It also features fewer tight bends to further reduce restriction and improve flow, providing an increase in power and response. As part of our expanding VAG product range, AIRTEC Motorsport is proud to launch our enlarged turbo inlet elbow upgrade for the MQB Evo engine (300-320ps), suitable for track or fast road use. Developed in-house at AIRTEC HQ in the UK, we’ve created a comprehensive solution to improving the car’s original pipework to allow more flow and capacity whilst reducing restriction and improving response. The comprehensive 8-piece kit features three pipes constructed from lightweight aluminium for improved strength so they will not fail with higher boost pressure as well as five Pro Hoses silicone joiners/hoses to make fitting as simplistic as possible. For the cold side from the intercooler to the throttle body, the original pipework begins at 60mm and tapers to 58mm in diameter, but our replacement features a 70mm internal diameter throughout until it meets the throttle body, increasing both flow and capacity. On the hot side coming from the turbo to the intercooler, the original pipework measures 60mm where as our kit features a 63mm internal diameter from start to finish with no restrictions. It also does away with the original resonator, which VW fits to reduce noise but removing it improves flow, capacity and noise. The kit requires no additional drilling or cutting to fit and comes complete with all the correct fixtures and fittings, as well as detailed instructions. Following an extensive development process, AIRTEC Motorsport are proud to launch our Stage 3 oil cooler kit aimed at modified Yaris GR owners who struggle to maintain steady oil temperatures on track, or during fast road use. Developed in-house at AIRTEC HQ in the UK, this is our biggest oil cooler kit to date offering a huge 51% increase in volume over our Stage 1 oil cooler kit. Spanning across the entire front grille area for maximum air flow, the comprehensive kit also features laser-cut aluminium ducting to force cold air through the cooler. This allows it to fit with our Stage 3 intercooler kit (our Stage 1 oil cooler does not fit with the Stage 3 intercooler) to create the ultimate cooling package. The package includes a large AIRTEC Motorsport oil cooler with ducting, bespoke laser-cut and powder-coated brackets, high-quality braided hose lines with Aerotec fittings, and all fixtures, including instructions, for a simple bolt-on installation. The challengeWhen modifying the Yaris GR to increase power and torque at more extreme levels, an unavoidable by product is the additional heat level that’s transferred to the car’s cooling system. During hard use this can become a substantial issue, as we found on our own 400bhp+ Yaris GR demo car whilst testing on track. After sustained periods of hard use (similar to a round of racing), coolant temperatures would eventually reach 102 degrees, which was enough to trigger the aftermarket ECU’s safety features, putting the car into limp mode. Similarly, oil temperatures reached 123 degrees. We needed to address the car’s entire cooling system if we were going continue to modify and track our Yaris. The solutionDeveloped in-house at AIRTEC HQ in the UK we designed a series of new products to address the cooling issues when pushed to the limit. This additional radiator fits neatly behind the fog light (requires removal) and utilises laser-cut aluminium ducting to force cold air through the radiator. To create a flow path and further improve cooling, air then exits via the inner arch liner (requires cutting). A pre-cut mesh shield is supplied for both the front and rear to protect the radiator from road debris damage. The radiator is plumbed directly into the existing oil/water heat exchanger system to improve the car’s overall capacity and cooling ability, allowing it to maintain a steady temperature for longer during hard use. This can fit with any of our intercooler or oil cooler combinations to create the ultimate cooling package. The comprehensive kit also features laser-cut and powder-coated brackets, high-quality Pro Hoses silicone lines as well as all fixtures and fittings, and detailed fitting instructions. The testingWe went back to the track fitted with both our turbo and auxiliary radiators, as well as our larger Stage 3 oil cooler fitted, and were able to see a 10 degree peak drop from the coolant temperature, reducing to a much safer constant 92 degrees whilst oil temperature reached a maximum of 94 degrees thanks to a mix of the larger oil cooler allowing more surface area to cool the oil and the turbo cooler being able to reject more heat for the car’s original oil/water heat exchanger.
