Following an extensive development process, AIRTEC Motorsport are proud to launch our auxiliary turbo radiator aimed at modified i20N owners who require further cooling to maintain steady running temperatures on track or fast road use. Developed in-house at AIRTEC HQ in the UK, we have huge experience designing a range of highly effective heat exchangers, intercoolers and radiators to help performance and tuned cars sustain safe operating temperatures during periods of hard use both on the track or road. This turbo radiator plumbs into the car’s existing cooling system directly after the turbo to help cool the extreme heat build up in this area before is passes back into the system. By working alongside the original radiator, this works to improve the car’s overall cooling capacity and ability, helping it to maintain a steady coolant temperature at all times. It fits neatly inside the space by the gearbox and features a scoop to direct air from under the car to pass through the core. It also features a pre-cut mesh shield to protect it from road debris. This can fit with any of our intercooler or oil cooler combinations to create the ultimate cooling package. Following an extensive development process, AIRTEC Motorsport are proud to launch our turbo cooler and auxiliary radiator kits aimed at modified Yaris GR owners who require the ultimate cooling package to maintain steady running temperatures on track or fast road use. The challengeWhen modifying the Yaris GR to increase power and torque at more extreme levels, an unavoidable byproduct is the additional heat level that’s transferred to the car’s cooling system. During hard use this can become a substantial issue, as we found on our own 400bhp+ Yaris GR demo car whilst testing on track. After sustained periods of hard use (similar to a round of racing), coolant temperatures would eventually reach 102 degrees, which was enough to trigger the aftermarket ECU’s safety features, putting the car into limp mode. Similarly, oil temperatures reached 123 degrees. We needed to address the car’s entire cooling system if we were going continue to modify and track our Yaris. The solutionDeveloped in-house at AIRTEC HQ in the UK we designed a series of new products to address the cooling issues when pushed to the limit. This additional turbo cooler fits neatly behind the fog light (requires removal) and utilises laser-cut aluminium ducting to force cold air through the radiator. To create a flow path and further improve cooling, air then exits via the inner arch liner (requires cutting). A pre-cut mesh shield is supplied for both the front and rear to protect the radiator from road debris damage. The turbo cooler is plumbed directly into the cooling circuit that flows coolant to the turbo, therefore offering an immediate reduction in heat before the coolant reaches the hottest part of the car, which improves overall capacity and cooling ability, allowing it to maintain a steady temperature for longer during hard use. This can fit with any of our intercooler or oil cooler combinations to create the ultimate cooling package. The comprehensive kit also features laser-cut and powder-coated brackets, high-quality Pro Hoses silicone lines as well as all fixtures and fittings, and detailed fitting instructions. The testingWe went back to the track fitted with both our turbo and auxiliary radiators, as well as our larger Stage 3 oil cooler fitted, and were able to see a 10 degree peak drop from the coolant temperature, reducing to a much safer constant 92 degrees whilst oil temperature reached a maximum of 94 degrees thanks to a mix of the larger oil cooler allowing more surface area to cool the oil and the turbo cooler being able to reject more heat for the car’s original oil/water heat exchanger. Developed in-house at AIRTEC HQ in the UK, this is our biggest oil cooler kit to date offering a huge 51% increase in volume over our Stage 1 oil cooler kit. Spanning across the entire front grille area for maximum air flow, the comprehensive kit also features laser-cut aluminium ducting to force cold air through the cooler. This allows it to fit with our Stage 3 intercooler kit (our Stage 1 oil cooler does not fit with the Stage 3 intercooler) to create the ultimate cooling package. As part of our expanding VAG product range, AIRTEC Motorsport is proud to launch our enlarged turbo inlet elbow upgrade for the MQB Evo engine (300-320ps), suitable for track or fast road use. Developed in-house at AIRTEC HQ in the UK, we’ve created a comprehensive solution to improving the car’s original pipework to allow more flow and capacity whilst reducing restriction and improving response. The comprehensive 8-piece kit features three pipes constructed from lightweight aluminium for improved strength so they will not fail with higher boost pressure as well as five Pro Hoses silicone joiners/hoses to make fitting as simplistic as possible. For the cold side from the intercooler to the throttle body, the original pipework begins at 60mm and tapers to 58mm in diameter, but our replacement features a 70mm internal diameter throughout until it meets the throttle body, increasing both flow and capacity. On the hot side coming from the turbo to the intercooler, the original pipework measures 60mm where as our kit features a 63mm internal diameter from start to finish with no restrictions. It also does away with the original resonator, which VW fits to reduce noise but removing it improves flow, capacity and noise. The kit requires no additional drilling or cutting to fit and comes complete with all the correct fixtures and fittings, as well as detailed instructions. A direct replacement that offers increases in performance and response, our enlarged cold side boost pipe kit replaces the hoses from the intercooler to the throttle body with a freer-flowing design that offers increased internal capacity. The original hose is 53mm in diameter and follows a series of relatively tight bends. We developed an enlarged hose kit that measures 63mm from beginning to end, offering a significant internal capacity increase of 19%. AIRTEC Motorsport Chargecooler Radiator Upgrade for BMW M2 Comp, M3 & M4 (S55 Engine) AIRTEC HQ in the UK, we’re proud to launch our front mount chargecooler radiator upgrade aimed at BMW M2 Competition/M3 & M4 models for fast road or track use. As the performance of chargecooled-engines depends on the temperature of the coolant inside the system, it’s very important to ensure it runs as cool as possible for as long as possible. As the standard system can struggle to maintain temperature, especially on a tuned application, the keys to ensuring a consistently lower running temperature are to increase the capacity of the system and its ability to cool it. AIRTEC Motorsport’s solution to improving the original set up is utilise the available space behind the front bumper and develop a chargecooler radiator that measures nearly 100mm taller and 20mm thicker overall. This means capacity is increased by a huge 5.4 litres over standard, which is over double the capacity of the original. Frontal area is also increased by 40% to help cool the extra capacity. Despite the huge increases that will allow the chargecooler system to run cooler for longer, the radiator fits neatly behind the bumper and requires no modifications to fit, using the OEM mounts and the original coolant connectors.
