This kit features a Forge Ram Air high flow, pleated, synthetic nanofiber filtration filter, that has been manufactured for optimum size and fit to the available space giving superior flow and filtration with enhanced breathing for the 1.5 turbo charged engine. It also features a larger surface area than the stock filter and many competitors’ alternatives. The intake diameters on these air intakes have been carefully tuned to provide exactly the correct quantity of air ensuring solid consistent power gains throughout the rev range without any loss of low-end torque. The pipework is specifically designed to feed the turbo without interruption. The benefit of this is a gain of induction acoustics under acceleration, which improves the driving experience and adds a bit more drama to the TSI EVO engine. Left hand drive intake Right hand drive intake As with all our intakes we design, high air flow is considered absolutely paramount, thus, we endeavoured to incorporate a large bore silicone high flow pipe with turbo inlet adaptor included. This helps to aid the engines performance and air flow in several ways. Designed in a similar way to a conventional velocity stack, it routes the air more directly into your turbo charger and allows more air than the stock inlet tract to be compressed due to its larger capacity. This can have a positive effect on accelerating your vehicle after long deceleration or between gear changes as more air is being kept within the intake system. The Forge developed inlet tract has more than a 50% increase in volume with the area at the mouth of the turbo increased to 46%. This, combined with no internal baffles or noise restrictors gives a helping hand to the vehicles acoustic notes and throttle response. With the use of Solidworks®, our CAD engineers have designed the heat shroud to fit round all the contours of the engine bay. This shroud combined with our specially formulated thermal coatings protects the intake from radiant heat while also guiding the cold air from the OE cold air ducting to the filter and housing. All of the billet components supplied have been made from 6082 Alloy and then anodised to ensure the alloy has no fatigue and stays without corrosion for years to come. This kit completed with stainless steel high quality hose clamps has the usual unrivaled performance you would expect from Forge Motorsport. Each Forge Motorsport intake hose is available in your choice of 3 colours to match the tastes and desired colour themes that you are looking for. Please select your colour choice when ordering. During testing we have achieved gains of up to 11bhp and 13lb/ft throughout the rev range from 2900 RPM. When installed in conjunction with an engine remap and free flowing exhaust the figure can be far greater as the OEM intake system is restricted on high performance engines. This induction kit is for the Mk5 Golf R32. The filter is a PiperCross high flow Foam cone filter housed in a carbon fiber composite enclosed canister that connects directly to the an intake pickup at the front of the vehicle with an application specific inlet scoop. Everything is connected via high quality silicone couplers. The system creates a true ram air effect, and will only see airflow from outside the vehicle with absolutely no hot air from within the engine that could reduce power. We have dyno tested this kit, and have seen gains as high as 10 peak wheel horsepower improvement over the stock airbox and filter on Stage 2 tuned vehicles. It includes a billet machined coupler made to exact tolerances at our machine shop in Gloucester, UK, ensuring a perfect fit. The hose is available in red, blue or black and is supplied with all necessary hose clamps.     The Design Following the success of our carbon fibre intake for the Mk7 Golf we knew that we wanted to continue with our ‘Hi-Flow’ range and bring out an affordable option to the 1.4 TSI market. We conducted intense market research, speaking to tuners and owners of the vehicles we wanted the intake to fit. We concluded that rather than creating an entire carbon fibre intake system, the best product to create would be a carbon fibre scoop and airbox lid that fits with original airbox. With this idea in mind we started the design. Using industrial foam and aluminium the concept design was created.  With these components, we could identify the best way to fit the scoop, join it to the air box and mount it to the vehicle. Once the first concept was completed our engineers used the latest technology to create a 3D rendering of how we wanted the intake to look.  Throughout the drawing process we ran simulated air flow tests, this way we could ensure that we would create a product with the most efficient flow possible. The carbon fibre prototype was made and fitted to the vehicle. The design is one of the most aesthetically pleasing and practical on the market To ensure we deliver the best quality product we could and following the extensive design and development of this intake, we enlisted the services of one the world’s leading Carbon fibre manufacturers, who’s products range from F1 aero, carbon fibre car bodies and aircraft wings! Tooling was then CNC machined from billet aluminium to ensure the finished product was flawless. This enables us to create a perfect airbox using the autoclave technique during the manufacturing process of the 2x2 twill carbon fibre. Rather than using a vacuum (also known as liquid infusion) to draw the resin through the mould then pulling the raw carbon fibre cloth to the mould shape, a technique known as Autoclave is used in the manufacturing of this beautifully designed product. This involves the use of up to 10 bar of pressure that is blown into a 100% billet mould to force it out. This high amount of pressure ensures the material is fully in contact with the surface of the mould.  Therefore, making sure the weave is tight, solid and strong, this process also ensures there are no imperfections in the product. The mould is then heated to cure the resin which in turn gives a tensile strength up to eight times stronger than mild steel but at a fraction of the weight. Having spent so much time on the carbon and silicone development we then turned to the equally important aspect of filtration.     Going with the Flow With the lid and scoop design completed we moved on to the hose and filter.  There is no point creating such an efficient system for it then to be restricted by the OEM hose and filter.  Therefore, for the filter we engaged our partners and experts in Filtration Control, Pipercross! With over 25 years’ experience in both the domestic and motorsport market they recommended a multi-layer foam construction filter, these filters work perfectly in our ‘Hi-Flow’ range. The large filter provided, flows 30% more air than stock and fits snuggly within the housing. This combination is second to none. The Forge Motorsport high flow intake hose that is mated to the carbon airbox eliminates the highly restrictive plastic and noise restricting inlet pipe, and replaces it with our smooth bore multi-ply silicone hose which increases air flow, improving efficiency and performance. This equates to increases of up to 10hp which is a remarkable gain for an easy to fit bolt on modification. On a tuned GTR one of the limiting factors of getting above 600bhp is the diameter of the stock airfilter pipework which won't allow higher power. The Forge Nissan R35 GTR intake uses much larger (80mm) than the stock pipework for massively improved flow and higher horsepower potential. The Pipercross filters allow unrestricted airflow from the front of the car. As a result of this improved flow, however, the GTR ECU must be remapped to take into account this extra airflow potential. Forge recommends the use of either the Cobb Accessport or EcuTek solutions, both of which will allow your GTR to reach its power goal. This intake kit WILL fit any car fitted with the pop-up bonnet safety device.
