The 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox (0GC) was derived from the advanced development of the previous 7-speed gearboxes, such as the DQ380 (ODE) and DQ500 (0BT), which had been used in commercial vehicles from 2010 and passenger vehicles since 2011. One key feature of the DQ381 gearbox was principally aimed at increasing efficiency. Unlike the DQ380 gearbox, the DQ381 was designed to be used in both FWD and all-wheel drive vehicles on the MQB chassis platform, such as the Mk7 Golf  R, Audi S3, SQ2 and Cupra Ateca.  This 7-speed wet clutch gearbox is already an improvement over the previous DQ250 6-speed, in terms of allowing the vehicle to shift more efficiently, and with a smother gearchange due to the closer gear ratios. However, driving a DQ381 equipped vehicle you will know that there are still areas that can be improved, especially on performance modes. With the stock calibration, you may find that gear shifts happen too low in the RPM range, or too high when in sports mode. These can lead to unsmooth driving, or make the vehicle feel too aggressive. You may have also experienced clutch slip when running performance ECU Software. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE DRIVE. This also allows Revo to test how Revo products perform in different driving scenarios and formed a vital part in the development of Performance ECU & TCU software.   KEY FEATURES DRIVEABILITY Revo TCU software has been designed alongside our ECU software to not only improve performance but to enhance the feel and driveability of your vehicle. This was the key focus during development, and something that takes time and thousands of miles to achieve. When vehicles are equipped with an Eco/Efficiency drive mode, this uses unique mapping and remains as “stock” to keep all the characteristics. To ensure low RPM driveability, whilst in traffic for example, when you are below 30% throttle input the software will replicate the feel of the stock software. But when required, put the car in Sport/Cupra drive modes, and the gearbox in Drive or Sport and you will be treated to a much-improved sportier feel. PROGRESSIVE SOFTWARE As we produce all our ECU and TCU software in house and have access to vehicles through our global network of authorised Dealers, we have been able to test and refine the software for all ECU stages. This means that our “Progressive TCU” software will work with Stage1 to Stage 3 ECU software on 2.0 TSI DQ381 vehicles. You can install Revo TCU software when at Stage 1 ECU, and it will cover you as you progress through the ECU stages without the need to change TCU software. SHIFTING Gearshift points in gearbox D and S modes have been enhanced and matched with Revo ECU Software. Meaning each gear shift will be at the optimal point to give the best possible performance and fastest acceleration. The shifting times have also been improved and made quicker in D, S and S manual modes. Tested on Stage 2 Audi S3 8V we saw an improvement of up to 0.4s on the 0-60mph time from launch over the stock TCU calibration. The 3-step launch control RPM limits have been optimised to offer 3 different RPM points depending on the throttle input 10-30% launches at 2200rpm, 45-79% launches at 3600rpm and over 80% launches at 4250rpm. When at partial throttle, the gearbox isn’t always looking for the highest gear, it holds the current gear longer. Keeping the turbo spooled and the vehicle within the right power band, thus not changing up and down the gears at much and therefore offering a smoother and more enjoyable drive. Flow forming is one of the most advanced manufacturing technologies to enter the wheel industry. Flow Forming Technology involves the application of pressure to the inner barrel of the wheel while spinning and after it has been cast. This process stretches and compresses the aluminium, which increases tensile strength. In this respect, the process shares similar properties to those found in the forging process. The final product is lighter, stronger, has increased elongation, and much greater shock resistance as well as an increased load capacity over regular cast wheels. Whilst the RF0 wheel shares a similar design concept to our previous generation RV0, the more advanced manufacturing process offered through flow forming allows for more definition in the design, particularly noticeable in the spokes and rim edge fillets. By reducing the weight of your wheels 'unsprung weight' your suspension starts to have a much easier time. Each bump can be controlled more quickly and easily.     Overview The Revo Carbon Air Scoop is designed to work in harmony with Revo software to unleash the maximum potential from your engine. Flow testing of the OEM intake emphasised the restrictions in the system, giving the Revo engineers a clear indication of what needed improving. The stock front panel used to direct air to the airbox, the standard air filter and convolutions in the rear pipe from the airbox to turbo were found to be the main ‘choking points’ in the system. The Revo system is a direct replacement kit and includes a beautiful carbon front panel, designed to direct cold air directly to the OEM airbox utilising an internal fin, along with the second feed of cold air into the engine bay to help keep ambient temperatures lower. A coolant relocation hose is also included. A high gloss carbon finish coupled with impressive performance benefits offers a product that delivers in form and function, looking great in the engine bay yet still performing above and beyond the OEM part.   RELOCATION HOSE The Revo Coolant Relocation Hose offers a high-quality single piece replacement for the OEM part which redirects the hose under the front air scoop to give a more aesthetically pleasing look.   TESTING MORE AIR, LESS RESTRICTION Testing was carried out with consistent conditions on both the OEM intake and the Revo Carbon Air Scoop with ProPanel filter, replacement silicone hose, and stock turbo inlet elbow. The graphs below were produced with products fitted to a vehicle and also in a standalone test off the car. The Revo system was tested on a flow bench to highlight the efficiency of the kit in allowing more air to reach the turbo, quickly and with less restriction. The OEM system reached its maximum potential of 440 cubic feet per minute, compared to the Revo system which was able to flow 480 CFM with a restriction of around 600 mmWg. This difference allows the engine to still make power at the top of the rev installing with the Revo kit.   INCREASED POWER AND TORQUE The Carbon Air Scoop (with silicone back hose and ProPanel) was installed on a variety of stage 2 & 3 vehicles, all tested on a 4-wheel hub dyno. Three consecutive runs were carried out on each vehicle comparing the stock system to the Revo MQB Carbon Air Scoop. A consistent gain of +10WHP was found on the 300ps 2.0TSI and +17WHP on the 220ps 2.0TSI, with both giving an average gain throughout the rev range of +16NM torque.     REVO ENGINE MOUNTS More power results in more movement during aggressive acceleration. The stock engine mounts, designed to favour comfort over performance, fail to manage axle hop and torque effectively requiring you to ease off to gain traction. Designed to significantly reduce this engine movement, Revo engine mounts use Powerflex bushings to minimise noise, vibration and harshness levels (NVH) while drastically improving traction and acceleration. The engine, transmission and torque mounts have been CAD designed to offer OE quality fitment with the performance benefits and quality of a Revo product. KEY FEATURES Dramatically reduce engine movement Improved acceleration and torque Powerflex polyurethane bushings Comes with a removal tool for torque mount   ENGINE & TRANSMISSION MOUNT The primary design goal of the engine and transmission mounts was to provide a management system for engine movement during vehicle operation with increased power/torque, to retain vehicle acceleration and tyre contact during aggressive driving. The aforementioned solution must also continue to dissipate the NVH naturally created by the drivetrain. To accomplish this, the bushing design of past Revo engine mounts was retained in the MQB engine and transmission mounts, allowing Revo engineers to focus their efforts on bushing stiffness/type to accomplish the task. TORQUE MOUNT Arguably the most vital engine mount upgrade to consider, testing highlighted that the engines stock lower torque mount allowed a substantial amount of engine movement to occur. Although some improvements were noted during testing of an insert style upgrade designed to stiffen the standard mount, there was a significant increase in NVH felt in the cabin. This was dramatically reduced when completely replaced with the Revo polyurethane torque mount and also improved acceleration. Fitting the mount does not require the sub-frame to be removed, reducing installation time and the need for axle re-alignment. A Revo installation tool is included to make removal of the OEM mount and installation of the replacement as quick and easy as possible.   MATERIALS, MANUFACTURING & FITMENT Effective design and fitment play a principal role in managing engine movement to ensure optimal acceleration and tyre contact with the road while dissipating NVH experienced from the drivetrain. Each component has been designed using CAD technology to ensure precise fitment and is supplied with class 12.9 hardware to replace the standard fixings. To ensure optimum strength and durability, brackets and housings are CNC machined from 6061-billet aluminium and finished with an anodised coating to protect from heat and corrosion. POWERFLEX BUSHINGS Powerflex utilises a unique formula of polyurethane, custom-designed to ensure optimum fitment in the machined housings. After testing various amounts of compliance, our engineers were able to fine-tune the final bush to achieve a balance between performance and comfort. Polyurethane is also resistant to oil, fuel unlike the rubber used in the OEM mount which can lead to perishing and failure. Our specified durometers provide a stiffer mount to limit the engine movement without compromising on NVH (Noise Vibration Harshness) levels in the process.     OEM COMFORT, AFTERMARKET PERFORMANCE To achieve the optimal balance between performance and comfort, several different durometer bushings were tested on a Volkswagen Golf Mk7 GTI. Bushings were systematically tested at precise increments at each mount location. A 3-axis accelerometer was used to quantify the NVH levels being transmitted into the cabin, as well as the acceleration of the drivetrain during loading. Accelerometer data gave us a way to compare mount combinations against each other with a low data error percentage and to quantify driver comfort as well as engine movement. Supplemental data was taken from VCDS to ensure each test was standardised over a given throttle, RPM and speed range. This design has been used to maximise rigidity, pedal feel and overall braking performance. The caliper incorporates a progressive six piston setup to give great brake balance, and high quality seals increasing resilience to road salts and other corrosive elements. DISCS We use a two-piece floating disc and hat design to efficiently dissipate heat. The friction surface features crescent groves designed to increase bite and remove debris from the pad surface giving the perfect balance between brake feel and longevity. The discs feature internal cooling vanes that draw air from the center of the disc outward to maximise heat dissipation and minimise heat transfer to the calipers, pads, and brake fluid, which plays an all important part in providing consistent stopping power for your vehicle. BRAKE PADS We supply our brake kit with Ferodo DS Performance Pads that offer a consistent pedal feel and fantastic braking performance both from cold and when hot. Combined with low wheel dusting, minimal noise characteristics, and low disc and pad wear rates this is the ideal pad compound for general road and track driving. BRAKE LINES Our brake kit is supplied with stainless lines; consisting of a PTFE inner and stainless steel braided outer to eliminate the spongy feel of original rubber hoses, provide superior resistance to corrosion, and offer consistent braking performance. BRAKE FLUID Our brakes are supplied with Motul Dot 5.1 brake fluid; specifically designed for brakes systems with ABS. This is a long life synthetic brake fluid with superior boiling point qualities to conventional Dot 3 and 4 spec. fluids. Increased volume and surface area, bar and plate cores with end tanks specifically designed to promote even airflow all play a part in lowering temperatures; without negatively affecting pressure. REVO AIR INTERCOOLER MQB 1.8/2.0 TSI EA888 GEN3 The Revo Intercooler utilises unique design features to lower intake air temperatures, minimise pressure drop and allow the engine to produce impressive power and torque with Revo Software. The unique end tank profile promotes internal laminar flow by decreasing turbulence and increasing airspeed into the bar and plate core. This enhances charge air cooling giving you access to more power throughout the rev range. The limitations of the stock intercooler were apparent throughout testing. The stock part consistently struggled to manage charge air temperatures, even under normal driving conditions. The Revo Intercooler has been designed to improve on every restrictive element of the stock cooler, enhancing cooling efficiency by lowering intake air temperatures by up to 36ºC vs. the MQB Golf R intercooler, allowing you to drive harder, for longer. KEY FEATURES Bar & Plate Core Design Fully Cast End Tanks OEM Fitment Up to 51% Increased Core Volume Over 36ºC Lower AIT INCREASED CORE VOLUME The Revo Intercooler was built around a simple principle; create a cooler that can keep up with your demand for power. Designed from the ground up, the Revo Intercooler has much larger core volume than the OEM part and offers perfect fitment, improving cooling by utilising the full volume of the stock location space as well as cold ambient air from the front of the vehicle. END TANK DESIGN The stock end tanks are inefficiently designed and create turbulent air in corners. These sections create a natural flow distribution but slow charge air and increase pressure drop. The Revo end tank geometry maintains the largest possible cross-sectional flow area to and from the core. Coupled with a cast interior surface finish, the Revo end tanks allow air to flow freely without obstructions from turbulent air pockets found in the OE intercooler. End tanks play an important part in maintaining pressure and work in harmony with the core to promote airflow, the Revo end tanks are designed to offer the optimal balance between both of these key features.   BAR AND PLATE CORE Designed with a bar and plate core to maximise the efficiency of heat transfer, the pressure drop is also controlled as the air meets less resistance compared to that of a tube and fin alternative. The Revo Intercooler also features carefully specified fin geometry to maximise cooling properties while minimising flow restriction. The ambient core side utilises louvred fins to slow ambient air flow which improves heat transfer, while the charge core side features an offset internal fin design to balance surface area and air resistance to minimise pressure drop.   SILICONE HOSES Supplied with stronger oil resistant silicone hoses, the Revo Intercooler can be installed using the stock pipework or recommended Revo Intercooler pipework. The internal diameter of each silicone is precisely matched to the outer diameter of the ribbed inlet and outlet connections along with a unique Flush Fit design, allowing a smooth transition between components.   BRACKETS To ensures precision fitment, Only Revo offers a CNC machined bracket system. Produced to a superior tolerance than that of a cast mounting system, this unique feature also ensures that the supporting brackets are strong and less prone to failure.   RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT All Revo products are designed in-house using the latest 3D printing technology, CAD and CFD software. Every product is rigorously tested utilising an in-house Hub dyno and Revo data acquisition software. The Revo intercooler minimises turbulence while maximising heat transfer, promoting cooler air temperatures and low-pressure drop. This helps retains power and torque throughout of the rev range as highlighted during controlled Dyno testing. The Revo Intercooler was tested in-house to compare the performance against that of the stock Intercooler. First tested on a vehicle running the OEM Intercooler with Revo Stage 2 software, a Revo air intake system and Milltek downpipe, the Revo Intercooler was then installed and tested in the same controlled environment to highlight the benefits of enhanced cooling. PERFORMANCE DATA Golf GTI with Revo Stage 2 Software, Golf R intercooler and Carbon Series Front Scoop Showing the last of five consecutive dyno runs, the efficiency of the Revo Intercooler over the OEM Golf R intercooler is highlighted. With max gains of +10 HP & +20NM Torque, along with increased performance throughout the entire rev range, the stock intercooler struggles to effectively function in comparison to the Revo Intercooler which remained consistent throughout, losing just 2% peak power over the 5 runs compared to 5% on the stock cooler. INLET TEMPERATURE This is a metric used to confirm that testing on the Revo MQB Intercooler. This is used to show that the air temperatures going into the intercooler were similar for each test, confirming that outlet temperatures shown in the following graphs are purely down to differences in intercooler design/construction. As can be seen, the inlet temperatures during testing were hotter on the Revo Intercooler, yet the Revo intercooler produced the lower outlet temps proving the cooling efficiency. OUTLET TEMPERETURE This graph illustrates the increased cooling performance of the Revo intercooler vs OEM Golf R intercooler over all five runs.
