Oil catch cans are vital preventative additions to ensure the performance and efficiency of Direct Injection engines doesn’t deteriorate over time. AIRTEC Motorsport’s solution to developing a catch can kit specifically for the S1 model utilises the available space to integrate seamlessly within the engine bay. It features a high-quality billet machined bracket, finished in powder-coated satin black, which allows the catch can to attach neatly in place. The can itself features an internal baffle and dipstick, and detaches to allow easy maintenance. It comes with a comprehensive fitting kit that includes all fixtures and fittings, as well as a detailed installation guide. Why do I need a catch can?The original oil breather set up can cause issues with carbon build-up inside the engine’s intake system over time. It forms an oily sludge that covers parts of the intake and inlet valves, which reduces air flow and therefore performance and efficiency. Once the build-up has formed, it’s a costly process to clean, so it makes sense to take preventative measures in order to avoid carbon build-up forming. A catch can also filters harmful contaminants before they can reach the inlet system. A direct replacement part that gives increases in response and sound by eliminating the internal sound resonators built into the original boost pipe from the turbo. The manufacturer fits these resonators to reduce noise and quieten the tone, but by replacing the pipe for one without the baffled internals, flow is improved, as well as noise. Designed at AIRTEC Motorsport, we developed this breather kit package to suit modified Fiesta ST150 models after finding our own supercharged demo car would often show signs of excessive oil residue pushed through the breather pipes, cam cover and crank case breather during fast road and track use. This would in-turn cause residue and vapour build up as well as smoke as the excess oil was diverted back into the intake and ultimately into the engine’s inlet. We have also seen similar traits in naturally aspirated examples with uprated camshafts or even remaps. Our kit is based around an oil breather tank that is designed to separate the oil from the vapour where it would usually be diverted back into the intake. The tank then collects the oil and features a level indicator, which once full can be easily emptied by removing the drain located at the bottom. The kit also includes an inlet manifold blank off pipe (as you will not need the  to breathe back into the inlet manifold anymore), as well as two specially made Pro Hoses silicone lines, a mesh filter and all fixtures and fittings, including jubilee clips.  This kit is designed to fit with the original PCV set up but can be adapted to fit with our AIRTEC Motorsport billet PCV baffle plate (or other aftermarket PCV plates) with an additional hose and fitting – please get in contact with your specific requirements. The tanks are available in silver, black or polished finishes – please choose from options. AIRTEC Motorsport Oil Breather(s) For MK3 Focus RS Developed and manufactured at AIRTEC HQ in the UK, we’re proud to launch our twin oil breather kit suitable for modified or standard Mk3 Focus ST and RS models. This kit offers a comprehensive solution to improve the standard breather set up on the popular 2.0 & 2.3-litre Focus EcoBoost engines. The package features a machined billet baffle plate to replace the original Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) plate and valve set that features extra baffles to decrease the amount of oil that is able to enter the intake system. It also features take-offs for one or two external oil breather tanks to further help reduce crankcase pressure and carbon build-up that can plague these engines. The kit is simple to fit and comes with all fixtures, fittings and correctly sized pre-cut hoses. Once installed, the breather tanks oil content can be monitored with the lid mounted dipstick, The kit can be bought in separate packages (top or bottom), if only one section is required.
