This VW Polo GTI performance exhaust is made in 2.5" / 63.5mm pipework and fits from the front pipe / catalyst backwards (Cat-back system) these exhausts replace the front box, centre and rear sections. This resonated sports exhaust includes the centre silencer and has a subtle but sporty tone. This part is also available as a non-resonated version (excluding the centre silencer) which is a louder option. Please Note - This package includes a "Race Pipe" which removes the first standard box. All relevant fittings and gaskets are supplied. (Except turbo gasket).   COBRA SPORT PRODUCT REVIEW   Cobra Sport’s experienced engineers were able to design an exhaust upgrade which balanced the need for improved gas flow without sacrificing back pressure. The results speak for themselves and certainly boost the car’s credentials. Our fully tuned version was given an inter cooler, induction kit and re-map, together with a Cobra Sport Turbo Back non-resonated exhaust upgrade with high-flow catalyst. On testing the Polo achieved a 50.3bhp increase in power taking it to 227.3bhp from its original 177bhp starting point. Similar increases were achieved with torque, which increased from 184lb-ft to a whopping 227.5lb-ft. Mass was reduced considerably providing a weight saving of almost 37% in comparison to its OE counterpart. All in all these are certainly impressive results for this little car. Styling options consist of standout twin 3” tailpipes in various designs, including the less obtrusive slash cut versions which compliments the VW aesthetics nicely. The exhaust upgrade provides a purposeful but unobtrusive sound quality which in no way interferes with day-to-day driveability. Engineering perfection is a given with all Cobra Sport exhausts, mandrel bends ensure an even curvature throughout and hand finishing of each individual system using advanced stainless steel TIG welding techniques providing assured quality in every exhaust.

Please Note:- Some of the fitted exhaust images may show alternative product combinations.   COBRA SPORT PRODUCT REVIEW   The latest vehicle to pass through the Cobra Sport exhaust development process is the MK6 VW Polo GTI 1.8 TSI. Having previously achieved impressive results from the previous 1.4 Polo GTI we were keen to get the new 1.8 litre model in for development to create a new range of Cobra Sport performance exhausts. The larger 1.8 litre engine in the new Polo GTI produces 190bhp as standard matched with an impressive 236 lb-ft of torque giving the lightweight Polo impressive performance figures on paper whilst creating an exhilarating drive. The Cobra Sport team were able to reduce the weight of the exhaust system by an impressive 41% over the OEM system with the resonated 2.5” cat back system weighing in at only 9.52kg compared to the original 16.20kg. The de-cat and sports cat front pipes have been enlarged to 3” bore and offer a weight saving of 0.60kg. The new systems benefit from all of the usual Cobra Sport refinements with mandrel bent, TIG welded, grade 304 stainless steel used throughout the systems as standard. You can therefore be assured of only the best quality in a Cobra Sport system. The resonated cat back exhaust upgrade is designed to provide a purposeful but unobtrusive pitch perfect sound quality which in no way interferes with day-to-day drivability”. The styling of the system is finished off with a choice of twin 3” and 3.25” tailpipes in a highly polished T304 stainless steel finish. These options include a less obtrusive oval slash cut version which further compliments the VW Polo GTI aesthetics.

This resonated exhaust includes the centre silencer and has a subtle but sporty tone. This exhaust however, is also available as a non-resonated version (excluding the centre silencer) which is a louder option. All relevant fittings and gaskets are supplied. Please Note - This performance exhaust removes the use of exhaust valves. When switching drive modes (e.g. Eco to Race mode) your exhaust tone will not change from quieter to louder as before. Using a Non-Valved exhaust will not harm the running of your vehicle, you will simply not have exhaust sound options, however the Cobra Sport exhaust has been designed with this in mind.   COBRA SPORT REVIEW   Cobra Sport have gained a fantastic reputation in the Japanese, Ford and Vauxhall exhaust markets over the years and hope to capitalise on this success by launching a more comprehensive selection of VAG products over the coming months to complement and expand their market reach. Therefore, they have now added the VW Golf R MK7 to the range. Having tested the resonated cat back exhaust system on the rolling road we saw an impressive 7.4bhp increase. We are now at the stage of waiting to collate all the facts and figures for the other systems which we will release shortly. If the VW Golf R Mk6 figures were anything to go by which saw over a 20% increase in BHP and a whopping 50% decrease in weight saving from the Original Equipment version (based on the de-cat turbo back system & mandatory re-map) we have high expectations from the Golf R Mk7. Having driven both the resonated & non-resonated on a daily basis, I found the non-resonated to be slightly uncomfortable at motorway speeds, and slightly on the louder side for normal road use, although, nowadays I would class myself as the more mature driver.

Having driven both the resonated & non-resonated cat back system on a daily basis, I found the non-resonated to be slightly uncomfortable at motorway speeds, and slightly on the louder side for normal road use, although, nowadays I would class myself as the more mature driver. The Cobra Sport system really improves the drivability of this car and takes it to the next level". Independent rolling road testing of the Golf MK7 resonated turbo back system with sports cat front pipe and aftermarket air intake revealed a +40.76bhp (30.4KW) power increase measured at all 4 wheels with the Golf R putting an impressive 270.61bhp (201.8KW) through the rollers. This testing was undertaken by a dealer in Australia in temperatures of 29.3 degrees celsius and an air density of 93.6%. A substantial weight saving can also be achieved with the 3” turbo back system providing a whopping 35% decrease in weight from the Original Equipment version. The styling of the system is finished off with either quad 5” x 3” oval slash-cut tailpipes in stainless steel finish or the upgraded ceramic coated versions.
