Cobra Sport's experienced engineers were able to design an exhaust upgrade which balanced the need for improved gas flow without sacrificing back pressure. The results speak for themselves and certainly boost the car's credentials. The new Cobra Sport exhausts for the 1.2 Ibiza FR benefit from all of the usual Cobra Sport refinements with mandrel bent, TIG welded, grade 304 stainless steel used throughout the systems as standard. You can therefore be assured of only the best quality in a Cobra Sport system. Matt Thomas, Sales Manager at Cobra Sport says "We are very excited to have developed the new cat back exhausts for the 1.2 litre engine building on the success experienced with the 1.4 FR model. The new Cobra Sport systems greatly improve the exhaust pitch and tone and add the sporty edge which was missing from the factory system. The non resonated cat back system offers the most dynamic upgrade recording a sound level of 84.8dB in the 4,000 rpm static test and is the exhaust configuration which perfectly achieves the sound we were looking for with this model. The resonated cat back exhaust upgrade includes a centre resonated section designed to reduce the sound levels and provide a purposeful but unobtrusive pitch perfect sound quality which in no way interferes with day-to-day drivability of the carå�." The styling of the system is finished off with a choice of twin 3" tailpipes in a highly polished inverted or inward rolled T304 stainless steel finish. A third option for a 5" x 3" oval slash cut tailpipe is also available for those looking for something a little different to compliment the Seat Ibiza aesthetics. Testing was completed on a fully tuned version which had been given the benefit of an added induction kit, intercooler and re-map (which is required if removing the Catalyst anyway) and an impressive 28.4% increase was achieved in BHP, with torque gaining 23.6% when compared with measurements taken on the standard model without the upgrades. These outstanding results are achieved by designing the exhaust to obtain optimum gas flow while perfectly balancing the required back pressure taking full advantage of the car's tuning potential.
