    The factory 2.0 TFSI air-box works efficiently on a standard vehicle. As power is increased through tuning, however, it quickly becomes a major restriction, reducing the additional power offered. Ensuring the engine can get access to enough air is paramount when increasing power, an open cone air-intake system is the most effective way of achieving this, but not all products are made equal. Having worked with a number of intake solutions during software development, we noticed a lack of high quality and more importantly, high flowing kits available. Working alongside some of the biggest names in the air filter industry, we engineered and designed what is still one of the highest flowing kits available. Pioneering design allows air to reach the turbo as quickly as possible whilst minimising turbulence and restriction. As a result, boost can be maintained for longer, giving you access to more power throughout the rev-range along with a more aggressive sound, and performance you can feel all the way to the redline. The system is designed around a lightweight 90mm intake pipe, mandrel bent to maintain the internal diameter in the corners and to create a one-piece solution. This offers superior flow and avoids the air turbulence and resistance experienced on intake kits with multiple sections, usually caused at each join resulting in very turbulent airflow, ultimately restricting performance. MAF SCALING Ensuring correct MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor scaling is the real art when it comes to designing air intake systems if incorrect the intake system can actually reduce power and cause major fuelling issues. The Revo kit integrates the stock MAF sensor in a specifically designed housing on the one-piece pipe to ensure correct scaling during fitment. THREE LAYER FOAM FILTER An intake system is only as good as the filter. This kit comes complete with a tried and tested Revo three-layer foam filter with an impressive 857cm² surface area, supported by galvanised, epoxy-coated mesh to ensure the filter cannot collapse. The filter has a large 180mm external diameter body and a smooth radius aluminium bell mouth, specifically designed for optimum airflow from the filter to pipe-work. Revo three-stage foam filters work very differently to conventional paper or cotton-gauze, which are surface filters designed to trap particles on the outer layer, instantly causing restriction. Revo foam filters work by trapping dirt particles within each of the oiled foam layers, allowing air to negotiate its way through the filter, reducing restriction and offering much longer service intervals. We tested the filter at a leading motor testing centre ‘Mira’ on an industry recognised dust load test. On a full dust load test, the foam filter was found to still be 99.1% efficient, filtering down to 5 microns while offering the least amount of restriction over similar products. HEAT SHIELD The intake system features a laser-cut aluminium heat shield that ensures the filter is well insulated from ambient under-bonnet temperatures. The shielding is designed to utilise the ducting in the factory grill to maximise airflow and prevent heat-soak. SILICONE HOSE The silicone hoses included in the kit are manufactured using high-quality automotive grade silicone, engineered to combine the system using stepped necks to offer a smooth transition of air to avoid turbulence. The turbo inlet hose has also been specifically designed to fit both K03 and K04 turbo powered cars.     Mount Upgrade Kit OVERVIEW The Revo mount upgrade kit is designed to improve the driving experience of your vehicle. Power development on the EA888 2.0L engine quickly uncovered problems with severe engine movement. The fluid-damper design of the stock engine/transmission mounts and air gap design of the lower torque mount become overtaxed with increased power, numbing the driver of critical vehicle feedback and absorbing useable power. The Revo mount system includes replacement engine and transmission mount assemblies, as well as a replacement lower torque arm and lower bushing insert. Precision-machined aluminium/stainless steel parts and Powerflex polyurethane bushings manage the movement of uprated engines, transferring more energy to the wheels versus the OEM mounts. The polyurethane bushing design provides a more connected feeling for the driver during spirited drives, reducing engine movement and stiffening up the front of your vehicle. Several prototypes were evaluated to ensure factory alignment between the vehicle’s engine and chassis. Each Revo kit includes an assortment of brackets and spacers to securely mount any accessories previously fixtured to the stock units.   HIGH STRENGTH CONSTRUCTION 6061 T6 aluminium billet and 304 stainless steel round are used to manufacture the mount frames, while each bushing is moulded from top quality polyurethane by Powerflex. All manufacturing is controlled to a strict dimensional tolerance to guarantee each mount is identical to the prototypes tested. Custom length, Grade 10.9 bolts are supplied with each kit to match the strength & thread engagement of the factory units.     POWERFLEX BUSHINGS Powerflex utilises a unique formula of polyurethane, custom designed to ensure optimum fitment in the machined housings. After testing of various amounts of compliance, our engineers were able to fine-tune the final bush to achieve a balance between performance and comfort. Polyurethane is also resistant to oil, fuel unlike the rubber used in the OEM mount which can lead to perishing and failure. Our specified durometers provide a stiffer mount to limit the engine movement without compromising on NVH (Noise Vibration Harshness) levels in the process.   REVO MOUNTS   ENGINE MOUNT Several specific details set the Revo engine mount apart from similar kits. The engine mount bushings, mounting arm and base plate are all specifically sized to provide clearance to the engine block bracket. The mounting arm locator is machined to 0.30mm tolerance to provide engagement to the stock mounting bracket without any interference. Each kit includes a variety of brackets and spacers designed to provide new mounting points for every part previously mounted to the stock assembly. The Type II hard aluminium anodizing, powder coated steel parts and stainless steel non-critical hardware provide excellent corrosion protection while the Grade 10.9 steel bolts provide OE level strength.   TRANSMISSION MOUNT As with the engine mount, several specific details set the Revo transmission mount apart. The mount base plate is designed to incorporate the Revo bushings while providing clearance to the chassis frame rail. Several prototypes were used to adjust the overall height of the assembly, optimizing clearance to the wiring tray mounted above and frame rail below. The same Type II hard anodizing and custom length Grade 10.9 bolts provide OE level strength and corrosion resistance.      PENDULUM MOUNT Long-term prototype testing revealed several key elements integrated into the Revo pendulum mount. High durometer link bushings are used to keep but decrease compliance at the stock location, thereby reducing accelerated wear on the stock sub-frame mount while still reducing engine movement. Close manufacturing tolerances are held on the rear of the pendulum mount arm, ensuring perfect fitment into the stock sub-frame mount on every vehicle. Prototype testing revealed that even high-spec. hard anodizing succumb to the combination of heat/road debris over time and fades, leaving the bare aluminium exposed to the elements.     REVO AIR INTERCOOLER 1.8/2.0 TFSI The Revo Intercooler utilises unique design features to lower intake air temperatures, minimise pressure drop and allow the engine to produce impressive power and torque with Revo Software. The unique end tank profile promotes internal laminar flow thus decreasing turbulence and increasing airspeed into the bespoke bar and plate core. These features enhance charge air cooling giving you access to more power throughout the rev range. The limitations of the stock intercooler were apparent throughout testing. The stock part consistently struggled to manage charge air temperatures, even under normal driving conditions. The Revo Intercooler has been designed to improve on every restrictive element of the stock cooler, enhancing cooling efficiency by lowering intake air temperatures even compared to the Audi S3 (8P) cast aluminium intercooler, allowing you to drive harder, for longer. Designed from the ground up, the Revo Intercooler has a much larger core volume than the OEM part and offers perfect fitment, improving cooling by utilising the full volume of the stock location space as well as cold ambient air from the front of the vehicle. END TANK DESIGN End tanks play an important part in managing pressure drop and work in harmony with the core to promote airflow, the stock ones are inefficiently designed and create turbulent air in corners. These sections create a naturally small cross-sectional flow area, slowing charge air and increasing pressure drop. The Revo end tank geometry maintains the largest possible cross-sectional flow area to and from the core by removing these turbulent pocket areas found in the OE design. Coupled with a cast interior surface finish, the Revo end tanks allow air to flow freely without obstructions from turbulent air pockets found in the OE intercooler. End tanks play an important part in maintaining pressure and work in harmony with the core to promote airflow, the Revo end tanks are designed to offer the optimal balance between both of these key features.   BAR AND PLATE CORE Designed with a bar and plate core to maximise the efficiency of heat transfer and minimise flow resistance, the Revo Intercooler easily outperforms similar tube and fin alternatives in both aspects. The Revo Intercooler goes a step farther: featuring carefully specified fin sizing and geometry to further optimise the balance between air cooling and flow restriction. The ambient core side utilises shorter fins with specially designed louvres to slow ambient air passing through the core, which improves heat transfer. While the charge core side features an offset internal fin design to balance surface area and air resistance to aid cooling ability and minimise pressure drop.   SILICONE HOSES Supplied with stronger oil resistant silicone hoses, the Revo Intercooler can be installed using the stock pipework or recommended Revo Intercooler pipework (Coming soon). The internal diameter of each silicone is precisely matched to the inner diameter of the ribbed intercooler inlet and outlet connections along with a unique Flush Fit design, allowing a smooth transition between components.   BRACKETS To ensures precision fitment, Only Revo offers a CNC machined bracket system. Produced to a superior tolerance than that of a cast mounting system, this unique feature also ensures that the supporting brackets are strong and less prone to failure.   RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT All Revo products are designed in-house using the latest 3D printing technology, CAD and CFD software. Every product is rigorously tested utilising an in-house dyno and Revo data acquisition software. The Revo intercooler minimises turbulence while maximising heat transfer, promoting cooler air temperatures and low-pressure drop. This helps retains power and torque throughout of the rev range as highlighted during controlled Dyno testing. The Revo Intercooler was tested in-house to compare the performance against that of the stock Intercooler. First tested on a vehicle running the OE S3 (8P) intercooler with a Revo K04 Kit, Revo production KO4 software, a Revo air intake system and full Eurojet exhaust, the Revo Intercooler was then installed and tested in the same controlled environment to highlight the benefits of it's enhanced cooling. PERFORMANCE DATA Golf GTI TSI EA888 Gen1 with Revo K04 upgrade, OE S3 (8P) intercooler and Revo open cone air intake system and full Eurojet exhaust. Showing the last of five consecutive dyno runs, the efficiency of the Revo Intercooler over the OE S3 intercooler is highlighted. With max gains of +8 HP & +11NM Torque, along with increased performance throughout the entire rev range, the stock intercooler struggles to effectively function in comparison to the Revo Intercooler which remained consistent throughout, losing no peak power over the 5 runs. INLET TEMPERATURE This is a metric used to confirm that testing on the Revo Intercooler. This is used to show that the air temperatures going into the intercooler were similar for each test, confirming that outlet temperatures shown in the following graphs are purely down to differences in intercooler design/construction. As can be seen, the inlet temperatures during testing were equal between both coolers, yet the Revo intercooler produced the lower outlet temps proving the cooling efficiency advantage. OUTLET TEMPERETURE This graph illustrates the increased cooling performance of the Revo intercooler vs OEM S3 (8P) aluminium intercooler over all five runs.
