Our design replaces the upper part of the original air box with a laser cut alloy housing in a powder coated black finish. This allows our large, free-flowing foam air filter to fit in place and connects to the original intake pipe with a high quality Pro Hoses silicone hose and alloy intake connector. To ensure under bonnet heat soak issues do not occur, the air filter housing is fed a constant flow of fresh air through the shroud that attaches to the underside of the bonnet and guides air from the car’s original bonnet scoop directly onto the filter. The result is a kit that offers increased power, improved throttle response, heightened induction noise and a more pleasing look to the engine bay. The kit is a direct replacement that requires no additional drilling or cutting to fit and comes complete with all the correct fixtures and fittings, as well as detailed instructions. Cold SideOur comprehensive eight-piece kit begins with a gentle taper from the 40mm turbo outlet that increases by 25% to reach 50mm as it meets the AIRTEC Motorsport intercooler inlet side. Hot SideFrom the intercooler’s 60mm outlet side, the pipework tapers back down to meet the throttle body’s 49.5mm size, maintaining a 53mm minimum as it reaches the new cast alloy throttle body elbow. Developed in-house at AIRTEC HQ in the UK, we’ve created a comprehensive solution to improving flow whilst maintaining low intake temperatures, which improves performance, response, sound and aesthetics within the engine bay. Having previously designed a shielded induction kit for the Yaris GR model, we were keen to develop a more extensive intake package to offer further improvements. Using our experience from developing and producing our WRC-inspired Closed Air Induction System (CAIS) for the Focus RS that is proven to dramatically increase power and torque, we embarked on developing an entire replacement air box carefully moulded to our design in a GRP composite material to help thermal efficiency. Sealed inside is a large Group-A style cotton air filter that draws fresh air solely from the front intake, ensuring minimal heat soak issues and the lowest possible intake temperatures. Our design also features a replacement MAF housing and rear intake pipe, both 80mm in diameter and finished in black powder-coated finish. The kit comes complete with high quality Pro Hoses silicone connectors, as well as all fixtures and fittings required for a simple installation. The kit is a direct replacement that comes complete pre-built and ready to install. It requires no additional drilling or cutting to fit and comes with detailed fitting instructions.   DYNO TESTEDDeveloped on our own comprehensively modified AIRTEC Motorsport Yaris GR, with the Closed Air Induction System the car produced 335bhp, 5hp more than our open filter induction kit, whilst our thermal imaging camera showed it continued to repel heat build-up from the local area.  Overall, the result is a complete kit that offers increased power, improved throttle response, heightened induction noise and a more pleasing look to the engine bay that is perfectly suited to the GR. The original oval connectors with O-ring seals have also been re-designed to feature simpler and less restrictive silicone connectors. Together with our high-flow, moulded one-piece cast end tanks and an internal air diverter to ensure flow is directed correctly and efficiently, the AIRTEC Motorsport intercooler offers much greater efficiency and volume over standard. TESTED ON TRACK Following an extensive development process our intercooler has been tried, tested and logged on the road and race track. Our comprehensive testing highlighted the intercooler’s improved design to cater with long periods of hard use, as seen by the inlet temperature’s consistently low results and improved recovery times in comparison to the OEM intercooler.
