The direct routing and increased diameter pipe offer superior flow and deliver more air to the turbocharger over a shorter period.   SILICONE HOSES The plastic hoses on the stock system are designed with a corrugated style to flex with the engine movement, while this has its place it also causes a large amount of turbulence as the airflow doesn’t have a smooth direct path to the turbo. We designed the silicone hoses with stepped internals to ensure a flush fit and to minimise turbulence while still allowing for engine movement.   AIR FILTER The standard paper filter found in most vehicles performs well under normal conditions, however, with the increased power it becomes a major choking point in the system. Revo filters work by trapping dirt particles within each of the oiled foam layers while allowing air to negotiate its way through, reducing restriction and offering much longer service intervals. The new Revo filter features a direct replacement three-layer foam filter,   MOUNTING BRACKET AND FITTING KIT The Revo kits come complete with a full fitting kit that allows for easy installation. Included is a fully machined crossover bracket which increases the strength of this fixture point and alleviates any possibility of bracket failure from engine movement.     RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT All Revo products are designed in-house and are rigorously tested utilising an in-house 3D printer, latest CAD and CFD programs, hub dyno and Revo data acquisition software. The Revo intake allows the turbo to run more efficiently, intake a larger volume of air and minimise turbulence to increase both power and torque, as highlighted during controlled dyno testing. The Revo Fiesta Mk8 OEM+ air intake system was tested in-house to compare the performance against that of the Ford OEM intake. First tested on a vehicle running the OEM intake with Revo Stage 1 software, Revo Intercooler and a Milltek GPF back exhaust, the Revo intake was then installed and tested in the same controlled environment to highlight the benefits of enhanced cooling. PERFORMANCE DATA The results show improvement throughout the whole rev range, but especially towards the top end of the rev range. The Revo intake offering an average gain of +4WHP, and +6NM torque over the stock part. Increased airflow also delivers impressive peak performance gains of +11WHP @6100rpm and +13NM @6100RPM over the stock intake system. AIRFLOW More air, less restriction. The Revo system was tested on a flow bench to highlight the efficiency of the kit in allowing more air to reach the turbo, quickly and with less restriction. The OEM system reached its maximum potential of 490 cubic feet per minute with a restriction of 1082 mmWg, compared to the Revo system which was able to flow 570 CFM with a restriction of only 1029 mmWg. Strength is a key factor to the IS38ETR, a replacement back-plate machined from a single billet piece offers greater resistance to warping, while the increased diameter shaft eliminates the weakness in the OE part.   COMPRESSOR WHEEL The larger compressor wheel has been machined from a solid billet of aluminium giving a much stronger construction. The new custom design gives the highest level of aero performance, providing superior flow characteristics to achieve the required boost levels with less effect. The lightweight construction of the compressor wheel also ensures low inertia, resulting in increased performance.   TURBINE WHEEL The precisely engineered turbine wheel has been made with a custom high flow aero blade profile to compliment the aero of the compressor wheel. The result is an extremely high flow aero turbine wheel which increases exhaust gas choke flow limits and reduces backpressure.   HOUSING AND BEARINGS The bearing housing has also been enlarged and upgraded to make room for a specifically designed 360° thrust bearing system, incorporating a custom 4 oil-fed thrust pad for increased reliability. Precision VSR balanced to levels above the OEM specification, something seen in the motorsport industry. This reduces vibration to the lowest possible level and improves the performance and reliability of the turbocharger. INTEGRATED RECIRCULATING SYSTEM The integrated recirculation valve is fundamentally a blow-off valve integrated into the compressor housing. When the throttle valve is closed and the pressure in the inlet drops, the valve opens and air from the discharge side of the compressor is diverted back into the inlet of the compressor. The IS38ETR forms one part of this package; with all available Revo hardware and software having been designed and tested to work in harmony to achieve exhilarating performance that only the driven demand; the result of extensive development, testing and prototyping programme. The aim from the outset was to achieve a balance of top-end power and bottom-end response, without having to forge internals. Combining extensive turbocharger manufacture experience with Revo’s industry-leading ECU calibration and hardware design, we have been able to achieve incredible performance results without compromising on component reliability or engine longevity. DYNO GRAPH Dyno testing was carried on our inhouse DynaPack chassis dynamometer, which measures performance at the wheel hubs, for comparisons between a Stock VW Golf R with IS38 Turbo and the same vehicle fitted with a full Revo performance Pack and IS38ETR turbo. TURBO INLET HOSE The Revo Machined Turbo Inlet has been designed and engineered to directly replace the stock elbow or the IS38 Revo Machined Turbo Inlet when fitting the Revo IS38ETR Enhanced Turbo Upgrade. BRAKE DISCS: Properly designed two-piece floating discs = quiet, warp-free performance. When brakes are applied and the moving energy (kinetic energy) is converted into heat, the disc expands radially and axially (diameter and thickness). Revo uses a floating disc that can thermally grow separate from the bell. This design is superior to a one-piece disc—when a one-piece disc is overheated, it gets much hotter than the bell and they expand at different rates, causing warpage or cracking. Revo Floating Disc Construction Racers have long used floating disc technology, but the discs found on racecars move freely on the floating pin drive connecting the bell to the disc, causing noise. To eliminate the rattling race disc for our street car customers, we have engineered a unique noise-reducing methodology that eliminates noise but still allows for thermal expansion without running out of "float."
