The billet aluminium inlet securely fits the OE unit using locking tabs and integrated O-rings. With almost double the cross-sectional area compared to other available products, air can stabilise and distribute before a smooth tapered transition to the turbo. Removing the internal steps between components further ensures uninterrupted airflow and removes any unnecessary turbulence. HEATSHIELD Ensuring the engine has access to cold air is vital for performance. The Revo heat shield channels cold air from the front intake duct while partitioning the filter from the heat of the engine bay. The Revo Heatshield uses the stock mounting points to provide easy and secure installation. FILTER An intake system is only as good as the filter. This kit comes complete with a custom Revo foam filter, supported by galvanised epoxy-coated mesh for strength under load. Revo three-stage foam filters work very differently to conventional paper or cotton-gauze alternatives designed to trap particles on the outer layer. Revo filters trap debris and particles within the foam layers, allowing air to still navigate through.   RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT All Revo products are designed in-house and are rigorously tested utilising an in-house 3D printer, latest CAD and CFD programs, hub dyno and Revo data acquisition software. The Revo intake allows the turbo to run more efficiently, intake a larger volume of air and minimise turbulence to increase both power and torque, as highlighted during controlled dyno testing.   PERFORMANCE DATA Back-to-back testing of the stock air intake system and the Revo kit were carried out. Fitted to an Audi S3 (310PS Model) with Revo ECU Software, Revo Intercooler, Revo Charge & Throttle Pipes and Revo Downpipe. The results show improvement throughout the whole rev range. The Revo intake offering an average gain of +12WHP, and +18NM torque over the stock part. Increased airflow also delivers impressive peak performance gains of +19.4BHP @6000rpm and +55NM @2400RPM over the stock intake system. AIRFLOW To evaluate the efficiency, the Revo Intake was tested for inlet charge pressure and mass airflow. Boost pressure was measured and an increase in charge pressure was seen across the top end of the RPM range, as detailed in the dyno graph. This was dramatically reduced when completely replaced with the Revo polyurethane torque mount and also improved acceleration. Fitting the mount does not require the sub-frame to be removed, reducing installation time and the need for axle re-alignment. A Revo installation tool is included to make removal of the OEM mount and installation of the replacement as quick and easy as possible. Materials, Manufacturing & Fitment Effective design and fitment plays a principal role in managing engine movement to ensure optimal acceleration and tyre contact with the road while dissipating NVH experienced from the drivetrain. Each component has been designed using CAD technology to ensure precision fitment and is supplied with class 12.9 hardware to replace the standard fixings. To ensure optimum strength and durability, brackets and housings are CNC machined from 6061-billet aluminium and finished with an anodised coating to protect from heat and corrosion. OEM Comfort, Aftermarket Performance To achieve the optimal balance between performance and comfort, several different durometer bushings were tested on a Volkswagen Golf Mk7 GTI. Bushings were systematically tested at precise increments at each mount location. A 3-axis accelerometer was used to quantify the NVH levels being transmitted into the cabin, as well as the acceleration of the drivetrain during loading. Accelerometer data gave us a way to compare mount combinations against each other with a low data error percentage and to quantify driver comfort as well as engine movement. Supplemental data was taken from VCDS to ensure each individual test was standardised over a given throttle, RPM and speed range. The graph shows the amount of vibration measured whilst driving through the gears. Silicone Hose Design The Revo Turbo Hose as an increased inner diameter that gradually tapers from air box to turbo to optimise airflow, while maintaining the tolerances required to fit both LHD and RHD vehicles with a standard air box. Designed to directly replace the plastic hose and turbo elbow, this upgrade reduces restriction and maximises smooth airflow improving both power and torque throughout the rev range. A four-ply construction with an internal wire helix increases strength to prevent collapsing under pressure. Internal steps flush fit against the stock air box and the machined inlet, creating a smooth transition between components ensuring the smoothest airflow possible to the turbo. A machined bung is integrated in to the hose, connecting the stock PCV system vacuum. Research and Development All Revo products are designed in-house and are rigorously tested. The Revo Turbo Inlet Hose allows the Stock IS38 turbo to run more efficiently, intake a larger volume of air and minimise turbulence. END TANK DESIGN The stock end tanks are inefficiently designed and create turbulent air in corners. These sections create a natural flow distribution but slow charge air and increase pressure drop. The Revo end tank geometry maintains the largest possible cross-sectional flow area to and from the core. Coupled with a cast interior surface finish, the Revo end tanks allow air to flow freely without obstructions from turbulent air pockets found in the OE intercooler. End tanks play an important part in maintaining pressure and work in harmony with the core to promote airflow, the Revo end tanks are designed to offer the optimal balance between both of these key features.   BAR AND PLATE CORE Designed with a bar and plate core to maximise the efficiency of heat transfer, the pressure drop is also controlled as the air meets less resistance compared to that of a tube and fin alternative. The Revo Intercooler also features carefully specified fin geometry to maximise cooling properties while minimising flow restriction. The Revo Intercooler was tested in-house to compare the performance against that of the stock Intercooler. First tested on a vehicle running the OEM Intercooler with Revo Stage 2 software, a Revo air intake system and Milltek downpipe, the Revo Intercooler was then installed and tested in the same controlled environment to highlight the benefits of enhanced cooling. PERFORMANCE DATA Golf GTI with Revo Stage 2 Software, Golf R intercooler and Carbon Series Front Scoop Showing the last of five consecutive dyno runs, the efficiency of the Revo Intercooler over the OEM Golf R intercooler is highlighted. With max gains of +10 HP & +20NM Torque, along with increased performance throughout the entire rev range, the stock intercooler struggles to effectively function in comparison to the Revo Intercooler which remained consistent throughout, losing just 2% peak power over the 5 runs compared to 5% on the stock cooler. INLET TEMPERATURE This is a metric used to confirm that testing on the Revo MQB Intercooler. This is used to show that the air temperatures going into the intercooler were similar for each test, confirming that outlet temperatures shown in the following graphs are purely down to differences in intercooler design/construction. As can be seen, the inlet temperatures during testing were hotter on the Revo Intercooler, yet the Revo intercooler produced the lower outlet temps proving the cooling efficiency. OUTLET TEMPERETURE This graph illustrates the increased cooling performance of the Revo intercooler vs OEM Golf R intercooler over all five runs.
