The Revo Air Intake System removes these restrictive elements promoting smoother airflow. Open Cone systems replace the OEM air box to make space for the heat shield, filter and ceramic coated pipe which joins directly to the throttle body. Revo Flush Fit silicone hoses mean joins eliminate unwanted turbulence and increase the rate at which air can flow, ensuring maximum performance at any level of performance. PIPE The Revo intake pipe is designed to directly replace the plastic corrugated parts. The single-piece mandrel-bent aluminium intake pipe reduces turbulence and internal restrictions. The mandrel-bent angles result in no loss of cross-sectional area and allow increased airspeed through the intake. CERAMIC COATING The Revo intake pipe is coated with a Zircotec ceramic coating. Ceramic coatings act as a thermal barrier, reducing the transfer of engine bay temperature to the intake pipe and helping to keep intake air cooler. The coating also allows the pipe to cool at a faster rate, which is important when running more power. HEATSHIELD Ensuring the engine has access to cold air is vital for performance. The Revo heat shield channels cold air from the front intake duct while partitioning the filter from the heat of the engine bay. The Revo Heatshield uses the stock mounting points to provide an easy and secure installation. FILTER An intake system is only as good as the filter. This kit comes complete with a custom Revo foam filter, supported by galvanised epoxy-coated mesh for strength under load. Revo three-stage foam filters work very differently to conventional paper or cotton-gauze alternatives designed to trap particles on the outer layer. Revo filters trap debris and particles within the foam layers, allowing air to still navigate through. The filter is also reusable.   RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT All Revo products are designed in-house and are rigorously tested utilising an in-house 3D printer, latest CAD and CFD programs, hub dyno and Revo data acquisition software. The Revo intake allows the turbo to run more efficiently, intake a larger volume of air and minimise turbulence to increase both power and torque, as highlighted during controlled Dyno testing.   PERFORMANCE DATA Back to back testing of the stock air intake system and the Revo kit were carried out. Fitted to an Audi S5 3.0 TFSI B8.5 with Revo ECU Software, Revo Charge Cooler and Pulley upgrade. The results were a power gain from 3900 to 6800rpm, the Revo intake offering a peak gain of 20HP at the hubs, and 9NM torque over the stock part. A maximum increase in airflow of up to +16 kg/hr gives impressive gains of 27HP @6100rpm and 30NM @4600RPM over using the stock intake system. LOWERING TEMPERATURES To show the efficiency of the ceramic coating as a thermal barrier, extra temperature sensors were placed at the filter and throttle body. After 5 dyno runs the maximum IAT (Intake Air Temperature) were 25% lower at the throttle body over the stock intake system. Paper and cotton filters, which trap dust on the surface are less efficient the more they are used, choking the engine and reducing performance. HIGH QUALITY The 3K carbon weave used on all Revo Carbon Series products whilst looking great also gives exceptional strength when combined with the manufacturing process, ensuring a high-quality long life part for your vehicle.   DYNO TESTING Dyno testing with Stage 1 software proved a 21WHP gain @4300rpm and over 11WHP at peak RPM with a consistent and strong gain through the rev range. Torque is also dramatically increased with 28NM gain over stock at peak. Increased airflow also means that the turbo can spool up quicker, delivering power and torque earlier in the rev-range. Revo OEM+ Air Intake Systems utilise the existing airbox, replacing any restrictive components with parts precisely engineered to reduce turbulence and improve airflow. The B9 Audi A4/S5 shares the same airbox as the higher-powered S4/5 and RS4/5 models and performed well during initial testing of volume and flow, however, there was room for improvement. This air intake system upgrade includes a Revo foam filter and a flush-fit silicone hose to minimise air restriction and turbulence, improving airflow and giving you access to more power. Revo filters work by trapping dirt particles within each of the oiled foam layers while allowing air to negotiate its way through, reducing restriction and offering much longer service intervals. The new Revo filter features an OEM top plate, allowing a direct fit replacement for the stock airbox. SILICONE HOSE The plastic hose on the stock system is designed with a corrugated style to flex with the engine movement, while this has its place it also causes a large amount of turbulence as the airflow doesn’t have a smooth direct path to the turbo. We designed the silicone hose with stepped internals to ensure a flush fit, and to minimise turbulence while still allowing for engine movement. SELF-SEAL TAKEOFF The OE B9 A4/A5 intake hose has a small vacuum take-off used to supply vacuum to various components of the engine. To replicate this, the Revo B9 A4/A5 intake hose utilizes a threaded self-seal barb. This machined configuration offers a better aesthetic and more durability than typical plastic and glued couplers.   AIRFLOW Testing of the stock unit back to back against the Revo OEM+ kit on a full flow bench was carried out to highlight the largest restrictions in the system. The Revo OEM+ Intake system had far less restriction than the OE unit, at 600CFM the stock unit was seeing 986mmwg restriction while the Revo unit only saw 843mmwg some 14.6% less restriction. At low flow rate, the Revo intake provided up to 15% less restriction, improving throttle response.     TURBO INLET HOSE The Revo Turbo Inlet Hose has been designed and engineered to directly replace the stock pipe and elbow found in vehicles with the 1.8 and 2.0 TSI engines with an IHI turbo. The Revo Turbo Inlet Hose offers a high-quality single piece replacement for the OEM parts which allows for smoother uninterrupted airflow, improving the throttle response and performance of your vehicle. With a generously sized airbox, the standard plastic intake hose causes the most amount of restriction; convolutions designed to allow for engine movement disrupt airflow, a small internal diameter limits the volume of air and a sharp reduction in hose diameter at the turbo causes turbulence.   TURBO INLET The Revo machined inlet replaces the restrictive elbow found on the IS20/IS38 turbos. The machined billet aluminium inlet securely fits the OE unit using locking tabs and integrated O-rings. With almost double the cross-sectional area compared to other available products, air can stabilise and distribute before a smooth tapered transition to the turbo. Removing the internal steps between components further ensures uninterrupted airflow and removes any unnecessary turbulence.   SILICONE HOSE DESIGN The Revo Turbo Hose as an increased inner diameter that gradually tapers from airbox to turbo to optimise airflow, while maintaining the tolerances required to fit both LHD and RHD vehicles with a standard airbox. Designed to directly replace the plastic hose and turbo elbow, this upgrade reduces restriction and maximises smooth airflow improving both power and torque throughout the rev range.   A four-ply construction with an internal wire helix increases strength to prevent collapsing under pressure. Internal steps flush fit against the stock airbox and the machined inlet, creating a smooth transition between components ensuring the smoothest airflow possible to the turbo. A machined bung is integrated into the hose, connecting the stock PCV system vacuum.       RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT All Revo products are designed in-house and are rigorously tested. The unique end tank profile promotes internal laminar flow thus decreasing turbulence and increasing airspeed into the bespoke bar and plate core. These features enhance charge air cooling giving you access to more power throughout the rev range. The limitations of the stock intercooler were apparent throughout testing. The stock part consistently struggled to manage charge air temperatures, even under normal driving conditions. The Revo Intercooler has been designed to improve on every restrictive element of the stock cooler, enhancing cooling efficiency by lowering intake air temperatures even compared to the Audi S3 (8P) cast aluminium intercooler, allowing you to drive harder, for longer. Designed from the ground up, the Revo Intercooler has a much larger core volume than the OEM part and offers perfect fitment, improving cooling by utilising the full volume of the stock location space as well as cold ambient air from the front of the vehicle. END TANK DESIGN End tanks play an important part in managing pressure drop and work in harmony with the core to promote airflow, the stock ones are inefficiently designed and create turbulent air in corners. These sections create a naturally small cross-sectional flow area, slowing charge air and increasing pressure drop. The Revo end tank geometry maintains the largest possible cross-sectional flow area to and from the core by removing these turbulent pocket areas found in the OE design. Coupled with a cast interior surface finish, the Revo end tanks allow air to flow freely without obstructions from turbulent air pockets found in the OE intercooler. End tanks play an important part in maintaining pressure and work in harmony with the core to promote airflow, the Revo end tanks are designed to offer the optimal balance between both of these key features.   BAR AND PLATE CORE Designed with a bar and plate core to maximise the efficiency of heat transfer and minimise flow resistance, the Revo Intercooler easily outperforms similar tube and fin alternatives in both aspects. The Revo Intercooler goes a step farther: featuring carefully specified fin sizing and geometry to further optimise the balance between air cooling and flow restriction. The ambient core side utilises shorter fins with specially designed louvres to slow ambient air passing through the core, which improves heat transfer. While the charge core side features an offset internal fin design to balance surface area and air resistance to aid cooling ability and minimise pressure drop.   SILICONE HOSES Supplied with stronger oil resistant silicone hoses, the Revo Intercooler can be installed using the stock pipework or recommended Revo Intercooler pipework (Coming soon). The internal diameter of each silicone is precisely matched to the inner diameter of the ribbed intercooler inlet and outlet connections along with a unique Flush Fit design, allowing a smooth transition between components.   BRACKETS To ensures precision fitment, Only Revo offers a CNC machined bracket system. Produced to a superior tolerance than that of a cast mounting system, this unique feature also ensures that the supporting brackets are strong and less prone to failure.   RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT All Revo products are designed in-house using the latest 3D printing technology, CAD and CFD software. Every product is rigorously tested utilising an in-house dyno and Revo data acquisition software. The Revo intercooler minimises turbulence while maximising heat transfer, promoting cooler air temperatures and low-pressure drop. This helps retains power and torque throughout of the rev range as highlighted during controlled Dyno testing. The Revo Intercooler was tested in-house to compare the performance against that of the stock Intercooler. First tested on a vehicle running the OE S3 (8P) intercooler with a Revo K04 Kit, Revo production KO4 software, a Revo air intake system and full Eurojet exhaust, the Revo Intercooler was then installed and tested in the same controlled environment to highlight the benefits of it's enhanced cooling. PERFORMANCE DATA Golf GTI TSI EA888 Gen1 with Revo K04 upgrade, OE S3 (8P) intercooler and Revo open cone air intake system and full Eurojet exhaust. Showing the last of five consecutive dyno runs, the efficiency of the Revo Intercooler over the OE S3 intercooler is highlighted. With max gains of +8 HP & +11NM Torque, along with increased performance throughout the entire rev range, the stock intercooler struggles to effectively function in comparison to the Revo Intercooler which remained consistent throughout, losing no peak power over the 5 runs. INLET TEMPERATURE This is a metric used to confirm that testing on the Revo Intercooler. This is used to show that the air temperatures going into the intercooler were similar for each test, confirming that outlet temperatures shown in the following graphs are purely down to differences in intercooler design/construction. As can be seen, the inlet temperatures during testing were equal between both coolers, yet the Revo intercooler produced the lower outlet temps proving the cooling efficiency advantage. OUTLET TEMPERETURE This graph illustrates the increased cooling performance of the Revo intercooler vs OEM S3 (8P) aluminium intercooler over all five runs. CHARGE HOSE DESIGN The Revo charge hose is a smooth custom-designed silicone hose, with a tapered first bend from the turbo outlet to gradually transition to a larger diameter. The charge pipe is designed to directly replace the OEM part utilising optimised pipe routing and a unique constant-diameter design. Wire helix reinforcement with 5mm wall thickness gives greater strength and rigidity while allowing enough clearance from engine parts, increasing performance without compromising fitment. THROTTLE PIPE DESIGN The Revo throttle pipe is much larger than the stock part, manufactured using mandrel-bent aluminium hard pipe volume has been increased by 23%. The reinforced oil resistant silicone hoses are stepped and ID-matched to promote laminar, uniformed flow across the transition of parts. This part also has an integrated water methanol bung placed near the throttle body, allowing easy access from the top of the engine bay.     RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT  All Revo products are designed in-house using the latest 3D printing technology, CAD and CFD software. The benefits of the Revo intercooler pipe upgrade allows the turbo to run more efficiently, moving a larger volume of air and minimising turbulence. This increases power and torque, especially in the middle of the rev range as highlighted during controlled dyno testing. PERFORMANCE  Back to back testing of both the OEM intercooler pipe work and Revo upgrade was carried out on an Audi A4 B9 (2.0 TSI EA888 Gen 3) fitted with Revo intercooler, Stage 2 Software and the stock air intake system.     REVO INTERCOOLER The Revo Intercooler utilises unique design features to lower intake air temperatures, minimise pressure drop and allow the engine to produce impressive power and torque with Revo Software. The unique end tank profile promotes internal laminar flow by decreasing turbulence and increasing airspeed into the bar and plate core. This enhances charge air cooling giving you access to more power throughout the rev range. The limitations of the stock intercooler were apparent throughout testing. The stock part consistently struggled to manage charge air temperatures, even under normal driving conditions. The Revo Intercooler has been designed to improve on the stock part in every area. Restrictive elements of the stock cooler have been enhanced and cooling efficiency has greatly improved by utilising four different fin types throughout the core, increasing core volume by 90% and overall surface area by an impressive 140%. Designed from the ground up, the Revo Intercooler has much larger core volume than the OEM part and offers perfect fitment, improving cooling by utilising the full volume of the available space as well as cold ambient air from the front of the vehicle. BAR AND PLATE CORE Designed with a bar and plate core to maximise the efficiency of heat transfer, pressure drop is also controlled as the air meets less resistance compared to that of a tube and fin alternative. The Revo Intercooler also features carefully specified fin geometry to maximise cooling properties while minimising flow restriction. FIN DESIGN The new bar and plate core design now utilises a four-fin configuration designed to control charge and ambient air separately. This unique fin design significantly increases cooling capacity by up to 25% over a two-fin configuration. The ambient core side utilises louvred fins to slow ambient air flow to improve heat transfer, while the charge core side features an offset internal fin design to balance surface area and air resistance, minimising pressure drop. END TANK DESIGN The Revo end tank geometry maintains the largest possible cross-sectional flow area to and from the core. Coupled with a cast interior surface finish, the Revo end tanks allow air to flow freely without restriction. End tanks play an important part in maintaining pressure and work in harmony with the core to promote airflow, the Revo end tanks are designed to offer the optimal balance of both key features. BRACKETS To ensure precision fitment, only Revo offers precision laser cut upper and lower brackets to fit integrated mounting points cast in to the intercooler. As the cooler has a much larger surface area, the upper brackets are essential to prevent any rotating movement.     RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT  The Revo intercooler minimises turbulence while maximising heat transfer, promotes cooler air temperatures and minimises pressure drop. This helps retain power and torque throughout of the rev range as highlighted during controlled Dyno testing. The Revo Intercooler was tested in-house to compare the performance against that of the stock Intercooler. First tested on a vehicle running the OEM Intercooler with Revo Stage 2 software, a stock intake system, Revo intercooler pipes and a prototype Revo downpipe, the Revo Intercooler was then installed and tested in the same controlled environment to highlight the benefits of enhanced cooling. PERFORMANCE  Three back-to-back runs were performed to gauge the various metrics of both intercoolers, as well as to see how both intercoolers responded to heat soak. With max gains of +56 HP & +60NM Torque, along with increased performance throughout the entire rev range. The stock intercooler struggles to effectively function in comparison to the Revo Intercooler which remained consistent throughout the 3 runs, compared to stock cooler which lost 5%.   INLET TEMPERATURE Inlet temperature readings are used to monitor the temperature of air going in to the intercooler. This ensures controlled testing when comparing results of outlet temperatures. As highlighted in the graphs, the inlet temperatures during the Revo Intercooler test were higher than in the test of the stock cooler, the Revo intercooler was still able to lower outlet temperatures more than the OEM part. OUTLET TEMPERETURE This graph illustrates the increased cooling performance of the Revo intercooler vs OEM intercooler over all three runs. The Revo Intercooler keeps temperatures below 45ºC on all runs compared to 90 ºC with the stock cooler. Revo OEM+ Air Intake Systems utilise the existing airbox, replacing any restrictive components with parts precisely engineered to reduce turbulence and improve airflow. The B9 Audi A4 shares the same airbox as the higher powered S4 and RS4 models and performed well during initial testing of volume and flow. This air intake system upgrade includes a Revo foam filter and a flush-fit silicone hose to minimise air restriction and turbulence, improving airflow and giving you access to more power. Revo filters work by trapping dirt particles within each of the oiled foam layers while allowing air to negotiate its way through, reducing restriction and offering much longer service intervals. The new Revo filter features an OEM top plate, allowing a direct fit replacement for the stock airbox. SILICONE HOSE The plastic hose on the stock system is designed with a corrugated style to flex with the engine movement, while this has its place it also causes a large amount of turbulence as the airflow doesn’t have a smooth direct path to the turbo. We designed the silicone hose with stepped internals to ensure a flush fit, and to minimise turbulence while still allowing for engine movement. SELF-SEAL TAKEOFF The OE B9 A4/A5 intake hose has a small vacuum take-off used to supply vacuum to various components of the engine. To replicate this, the Revo B9 A4/A5 intake hose utilizes a threaded self-seal barb. This machined configuration offers a better aesthetic and more durability than typical plastic and glued couplers.   PERFORMANCE  Testing was carried out with consistent conditions on both the OEM intake and the Revo OEM+ Intake System on a 2017 Audi A4 B9 2.0 TFSI Quattro (252ps) running Revo Performance ECU Software and hardware. While dyno testing for performance gains, VCDS software was used to log airflow with a full AEM logging suit used to monitor temperatures. The Revo Intake increased vehicle performance, especially higher in the rev range, highlighting the performance benefits over the stock components.   AIRFLOW Testing of the stock unit back to back against the Revo OEM+ kit on a full flow bench was carried out to highlight the largest restrictions in the system. The Revo OEM+ Intake system had far less restriction than the OE unit, at 480CFM the stock unit was seeing 619mmwg restriction while the Revo unit only saw 530mmwg some 14% less restrictive. At low flow rate the Revo intake provided up to 20% less restriction, improving throttle response.     The Audi RS6 and RS7 are without doubt quick in their purest form, add Revo Stage 1 and 2 software however, they quickly become supercar killers. Giving the cars an even further boost in their already staggering power figures, we turned our attention to developing an upgrade for the air intake system. Testing found that the RS air-box had a tremendous amount of potential, with only a few key areas that caused restriction.The new direct replacement kit includes a Revo foam filter, stepped silicone hoses and an aluminium tag. We installed the kit on an RS7 development vehicle, on our Dynopak hub dyno we saw improved power and torque throughout the rev-range, with consistent gains of +4WHP and +4NM over the stock filter and hoses when used with Revo Stage 1 ECU performance software.  BENEFITS Increased airflow +4 WHP and + 4 NM gain Retains factory airbox Custom designed Silicone Hoses Revo ProPanel filter AIR FILTER The standard paper filter found in most vehicles performs well under normal conditions, however, with increased power it becomes a major choking point in the system. We tested the filter at a leading motor testing centre ‘Mira’ on an industry recognised dust load test. On a full dust load test, the foam filter was found to still be 99.3% efficient, filtering down to 5 microns while offering the least amount of restriction over similar products.
