The Forge intake for the 2015-onwards 1.2 & 1.4 TSI removes the restriction of the stock airbox and replaces it with a silicone hose (available in a choice of colours) and free flowing Pipercross cone filter, which offers superior filtration to the stock paper filter. The spacers are anodised black to inhibit corrosion and "bonding" to the wheel or hub and are machined with an alloy spiggot to allow centering on the hub. The Revo System offers a high-quality open cone replacement complete with a heat shield to improve airflow and the performance of your vehicle. Key Features Increased performance +25HP at hubs & +30NM Torque Improves Air Flow Efficiency 53% Larger Hose & Inlet Volume Three Stage Foam Filter with Mesh OEM vs Revo When you begin to enhance performance, the restrictive OEM intake struggles to flow enough air, robbing the engine of power. The Revo Air Intake System removes these restrictive elements promoting smoother airflow. Open Cone systems replace the OEM air box to make space for the heat shield, filter and silicone hose which joins directly to the turbo inlet. Revo Flush Fit joins eliminate unwanted turbulence and increase the rate at which air can flow, ensuring maximum performance at all tuning stages. Silicone Hose The Revo silicone hose is designed to directly replace the plastic hose and rubber corrugated parts. An increased inlet diameter of 21% reduces restriction and promotes smooth airflow while an integrated wire helix reinforces the hose and prevents collapsing under negative pressure. Machined Inlet The machined inlet replaces the restrictive OEM plastic elbow and is designed to securely fit to the OE unit using locking tabs and integrated O-rings. Only the Revo intake kit features an inlet almost double the cross-sectional area. This means air can stabilise and distribute before a smooth tapered transition to the turbo. Filter and Heatshield Ensuring the engine has access to cold air is vital for performance. The Revo heat shield channels cold air from the front intake duct while partitioning the filter from the heat of the engine bay. The Revo Heatshield uses the stock mounting points and rubber mounting bushings to provide an easy and secure installation. Research and Development All Revo products are designed in-house and are rigorously tested utilising an in-house 3D printer, latest CAD and CFD programs, hub dyno and Revo data acquisition software. The Revo intake allows the turbo to run more efficiently, intake a larger volume of air and minimise turbulence to increase both power and torque, as highlighted during controlled Dyno testing. Airflow An overall air volume increase of 50% over the OE part allows for faster and increased airflow. The carefully designed silicone hose has its own support bracket mated to a machined hose fitting, maintaining the correct position during engine movement. A constant taper in the hose ensures a smooth transition of airflow from the air filter to turbo and results in an increase in air volume over stock. Further helped by the machined inlet that matches to the turbo inlet for the ultimate in airflow characteristics. Dyno Graph Testing was carried out on a VW Polo GTI 1.8 TSI (6 Speed manual) with Revo Stage 1 Software fitted with the OEM system and then the Revo Air Intake System. With a consistent gain throughout the rev range, the Revo intake offered a peak gain of 20HP at the hubs and 20NM torque over the stock part. A maximum increase in airflow of upto +16 kg/hr gives impressive gains of 27HP @6100rpm and 30NM @4600RPM over using the stock intake system. Revo 1.8 TSI OEM+ System Increased Power, Torque & Throttle Response Overview The new 1.8 TSI intake has been designed to work in harmony with our Revo software. Starting by looking at the OE system we set about deciding where we could improve on the current design, it was apparent from the outset that the factory airbox was more than substantial for the flow of air the car required. The stock airbox is actually about 15% larger than the airbox on the MK7 Golf Gti. So we decided to keep with the airbox on this basis and had one of the Revo ProPanel filters designed to replace the restrictive OE paper element to allow the turbo to breathe easier. The next section of the factory intake was the OE intake hose which feeds the clean air from the airbox into the turbo. The stock hose is made out of plastic with multiple ridges in it to allow for flex of the intake system under load, however having these ridges causes a lot or turbulence to the air. We re-designed the hose to eradicate this, maintaining the precise OE fit whilst eradicating any turbulence issues. Working alongside SamcoSport ensured the highest quality product, we opted to use high temperature nomex fabric to withstand the heat from the turbo, and automotive grade silicone rubber to avoid fading or perishing over time. The inner ridges made way for smooth inner walls which after testing increased both airflow and speed resulting in more power and flow. To avoid the all too common problem of hose collapse under negative pressure from the turbo, we incorporated an embedded wire helix to prevent this from happening, no matter how much more power you run. On the flow testing we set up the stock system on a flow test bed, The ISO5011 performance test, measures the restriction (measured in mm WG) created by the air filter and any equipment used in the air intake at multiple air flow rates (measured in CFM). The test uses a flow bench to draw air through the air intake at a given flow rate. The flow rate is calculated by measuring the pressure difference using a manometer across a set orifice. A second manometer is used to measure the depression or vacuum created by the air intake. The lower the vacuum created by the air intake the better it has performed in the test. Each component of the system was measured, analysed and improved to enable us to maximise the performance of the intake. The results were great and the complete Revo intake system compared to the full stock OE system showed a 19% reduction in restriction at 400CFM.
