The 3.2 Duratorq engine feels significantly underpowered for the weight of the vehicle, and the available torque never really translates into forward momentum. Coupled with a very lazy gearbox and long first gear, there was always going to be plenty of room for improvement. The way in which the power is spread over a broader band really helps to overcome the weakness of the 6-speed box.
