Airtec AIRTEC STAGE 3 INTERCOOLER UPGRADE FOR MK2 FOCUS ST (RS-SPEC HOSES)
As part of our expanding Focus RS product range, AIRTEC Motorsport is proud to launch our Stage 3 intercooler upgrade suitable for track or fast road use. In order to ensure there is no noticeable loss in performance during extended periods of hard driving, we have taken our hugely popular Stage 1 Focus RS intercooler and modified it to fit within the ST bumper and added our 2.5″ Pro Hoses(intercooler to inlet manifold connector and Pro Hoses intercooler to ST boost hose. This offers a massive increase in overall capacity in comparison to the original intercooler, as well as a significant increase in frontal area over standard, which allows it to make the most of the air flow provided. Together with our high-flow end tanks and air diverter scoop to ensure flow is directed correctly and efficiently, the AIRTEC Motorsport intercooler offers much greater efficiency and volume over standard. Matched with our 2.5″ hard boost pipe upgrade that replaces the OEM 2″ pipework. Increasing the dimeter reduces restriction and improves flow, which in turn sees an instant increase in power, as seen during back-to-back dyno testing which saw a huge 11.8bhp and 9lb ft of torque gain simply by fitting the new pipework. We recommend removing the radiator cradle bolt, levering the cradle to the right and re-drilling a new hole & then replacing the bolt. It’s very simple and easy to do, but is necessary to give you extra clearance for the bigger 2.5″ cold side hose. If you are still not happy with the fit, we would recommend fitting an RS radiator. Supplies a cold air feed directly into the Group A Filter Improving and maximising the airflow and performance. The cold air feed comes with Cold feed guide which sits just below the filter securing the trunking as well as a front grill-mounted plate which replaces the original plastic piece. At last, we have now released a full 70mm cold side hose for the Focus RS MK2! This hose will fit either a standard throttle body or an aftermarket uprated 70mm throttle body, expanding up to 70mm though the rest of the hose to then connect to most brands of intercooler with 63mm outlet including the standard OEM intercooler. Tuning levels on the Focus RS & ST have pushed the standard Ford oil filter housing to its limit, with the fagile diaphragm inside these housings splitting and also leaking due to the clip on design, a upgraded breather system was required, the AIRTEC Motorsport two-piece breather kit ticks all the boxes and more... The AIRTEC Motorsport two-piece breather kit includes the following: 1 x Modified & Baffled Ford oil filter housing, includes new oil filter element and oil seals for no fuss fitting 1 x AIRTEC Motorsport oil separator with billet mounting block and laser cut fitting washer that also doubles up as a template when drilling to attach separator to battery tray 5 x Pro Hoses oil resistant fluorosilicon lined hoses, custom made to fit your engine bay, far superior fitting than straight hoses and available in various colours to match your engine bay. With ST & RS Tuning being taken to new power levels, there is a real need for upgrading the oil cooler from standard, this Solid Billet alloy plate 'Base over 10mm thick' gives you flexibility in choosing your own oil cooler and position its going to be fitted. Fitting is easy, remove old water cooled oil cooler and fit new AIRTEC oil cooler plate with existing bolts and install pipe joiner to the 2 x 16mm i.d. water pipes. Note, Alloy pipe Joiner available from options. The Focus ST & RS Models have been massively popular and tuning of these fast fords have been taken to amazing new levels, unfortunately the cooling radiator has always been a weak point, this is where are AIRTEC alloy radiator comes into play. We opted for a huge 40mm core normally found on our Cosworth radiators it was perfect! but due to its size we needed to make the fitting more adjustable. We opted for adjustable billet lower locating pegs, these help position & fitting @ the same time stop twisting of the radiator while trying to fit. Features of AIRTEC 40mm core alloy Radiator. Designed & Proven to extract maximum gains from your 300+ bhp ST, this kit would compliment the DreamScience Turbo X upgrade or a similar Big Turbo conversion. Our RS into ST Performance & Cooling kit has been Rolling road tested (tests caried out @ AMD Essex) 2.5" Hard pipe upgrade removes fords 2.0" restrictive boost pipes. We saw gains of 11.8 bhp & 9 lb/ft torque increase's over the standard ford pipes, these gains were achieved by simply bolting on the big AS 2.5" Boost pipe kit!
