The Forge Motorsport intake system for the Ford Fiesta ST180 features a large diameter Pipercross pleated filter for superior filtration and enhanced breathing for the engine – but also featuring a larger surface area than the stock filter and many competitors. The MAF housing is CNC machined in our Gloucester machine shop and gently tapered internally so as to ensure maximum flow whilst emulating the stock configuration to eliminate the possibility of any engine check lights. We also provide a laser cut and powder coated aluminium shield which sits under the filter and directs air around the filter that enters the bay through the bonnet slam panel. During testing we have achieved gains of up to 11bhp when installed in conjunction with an engine remap, which is generally needed in order to make the most of the improved airflow. The kit is suitable for the Citroen DS3 1.6 Turbo,the Peugeot RCZ THP 156 and the 207 GT/GTi  We use a custom designed Silicone Hose combined with a non-oiled Pipercross foam high flow filter . Everything needed is supplied in the kit, including the highest quality stainless steel clamps. Our Dyno testing of this kit showed improvements of 6 horsepower over the stock airbox on a standard engine with greater improvements on tuned vehicles. Whilst Power gains may vary depending on your modifications and level of tune, if you desire even more performance, this has to be the perfect choice. Forge Motorsport are excited to release our industry leading intake for the Hyundai i30N. This aftermarket cold air intake system improves your i30N’s airflow in several key ways. It routes the air more directly into your engine, using a huge 102 mm diameter CNC mandrel bent alloy pipe. The aftermarket system also improves the airflow by adding a high-flow, high efficiency air filter in place of the more restrictive factory air filter. Finally, the cold air intake system is set up to allow cooler air to easily flow into your engine The intake diameters on these air intakes have been carefully tuned to provide exactly the correct quantity of air ensuring solid consistent power gains throughout the rev range without any loss of low-end torque. The pipework is specifically designed to feed the turbo without interruption. The upshot to all of this is a gain of induction acoustics under acceleration, which improves the driving experience and adds a bit more drama to the Hyundai’s 2.0 four pot engine. As always filtration is important when developing an intake, so we once again turned to the industry leaders and Forge long term filtration partners Pipercross. With over 25 years’ experience in both the domestic and motorsport market they recommended a multi-layer foam construction filter, these filters work perfectly in our ‘Hi-Flow’ range. The large filter provided flows 60% more air than the stock filter. The intake is finished off with our unique black thermal powder coating. This kit comes with Forge’s usual detailed fitting guide to help make installation as easy as possible. Hyundai boast figures of 275bhp and 278lb.ft on their standard vehicle. When we ran our CAT backed performance exhaust development vehicle on the dyno with this intake it reached figures of 296bhp and 310lb.ft! Interestingly there has been lots of divided opinions about our intake requiring a heat shield. Testing took place with the bonnet shut and replicated wind speeds of around 70MPH. Intake temperatures were logged and monitored along with thermal images taken,. During this testing, we did not see the inlet pipe or intake temperatures rise; even after 4 hard pulls, the inlet temperatures stayed at a steady 30°C. Why not add gold tape to the underside of the aluminium housing to further reflect any heat soak from the engine. The Gold tape comes on a 5 metre roll allowing you to apply it to the underside of your Forge Motorsport product. The FMINDK38 is the cold air induction system for Ford’s latest generation 1.5-liter 3-cylinder ST engine. Like with all manufacturers in recent times the need to make smaller engines more efficient and more powerful has been an engineer’s top priority, this then creates a problem for the aftermarket manufacturers to improve what is already fitted to the vehicle, nevertheless this hasn’t stopped us at Forge Motorsport. A large amount of knowledge and knowhow from past development with all Ford models was available to us, however this is a totally new power unit and we needed to spend an extensive amount of testing time to ensure we ended up with a product that gives genuine improvements over the standard air box.    The choice of filter was decided after weeks of real-world testing and hours on the dyno experimenting with different filter options. We found that our Forge pleated filter worked best with an increase in power and torque while maintaining the best filtration properties, the build quality of the filter is superb and carries a limited lifetime warranty. This performance filter has been designed with a high quality silicone coupling and W2 Stainless Steel hose clamps to join the anodized black machined billet velocity stack. The filter is made using a high quality, high flow, synthetic nanofiber filtration media which is pleated to maximise surface area and in turn increase air flow. The use of the velocity stack MAF sensor housing maximises as much smooth air flow as possible. Our skilled CAD engineers have simulated different MAF sensor housing models to create the best design for this kit. The illustrations below demonstrate the benefit of using velocity stack science and show the smoothed air flow into the MAF sensor housing and inlet tract from the air filter. With the combination of both the filter and MAF sensor housing we saw total gains of 4bhp however this only tells half the story, if you study the data from the dyno graph you can see the increase in torque from 1500-3000 RPM and again at 4500 until the red line, in fact at 2200 RPM gains of 20NM are achieved. This is also the same with the BHP power figures, you are seeing gains sooner and at the latter stages of the rev range, making the engine perform stronger when you need it to.  On a tuned vehicle this combination is an essential purchase as the OEM air box is found to be too restrictive to achieve the optimum power figures and smooth power delivery. As a bi-product from FMINDK38 the acoustics from the 1.5 engine have been improved, there is now a purposeful induction roar under hard acceleration and a very addictive turbo flutter when you lift off the throttle. Not only to improve the aesthetics but to aid as a heat defence from the hot engine, we have provided a laser cut and powder coated aluminium shield, this surrounds the filter and incorporates the OEM air ducting to direct cold air to the intake. This kit can be installed to the OEM intake pipe or can be paired with our own silicone intake pipe FMINLH21, the key here is to further smooth the airflow to the turbo and eliminate any metal pipework as this is susceptible to greater heat soak and a potential loss in power.   A commonly asked question is will this fit any other aftermarket or the inlet hose intake? The answer is yes it will fit other manufacturers inlet hoses and fits to the original Ford inlet hose.  MAF Boss Manufactured from 6082 aerospace grade aluminium. Forge Motorsport have a worldwide reputation of making industry leading parts for an array of performance vehicles; as such we’ve been able to work with some of most knowledgeable professionals in the tuning industry to produce the most versatile Audi RS3 performance intake on the market. A special thanks to Litchfield Motors, MRC Tuning and KSF Motorsport who have helped our RS3 8V/8Y intake development achieve the final product you see today.   3D scans of left-hand drive (LHD) and right-hand drive (RHD) RS3 8Y’s and RS3 8V’s gave us 4 separate vehicle scans that we could then pull together into one file that has allowed us to create one intake that fits all 4 variations. So, no matter where you’re based in the world or whether you have an 8V or 8Y RS3, the Forge Motorsport FMINDK47 is the intake for you.   Trying to ensure that our performance intake is a one fit all solution also involved an understanding of how turbo inlets vary across the globe for the RS3 market. The OEM turbo elbow is an aluminium cast part with a 3” inlet tract that tapers down to the factory turbo charger cold side feed. Forge Motorsport offer and manufacture an upgraded silicone inlet elbow and turbo inlet adaptor (FMINLH9) not only to increase the area to the inlet tract but also the volumetric capacity. This has been increased to 3.5”and is the largest available product that fits RHD vehicles (due to space constraints with the brake master cylinder and is not physically possible to increase this size any further). However, this is not a problem on LHD vehicles, and as such there are various 4” variants available. To ensure our intake will work in conjunction with either the stock or any aftermarket inlet elbows on RHD or LHD vehicles we’ve incorporated an innovative solution that will be interchangeable if you wish to further enhance the engine performance of your Audi.  FMINDK47 incorporates and includes modular couplers so that it can fit any size turbo inlet you may choose to run. The machined end of the carbon intake where it meets the inlet tract to the elbow has a 4”(102mm) threaded billet attachment which tapers up to the huge 6” pleated filter on the intake side. At this billet alloy junction, it enables the end user to have interchangeable adaptors. Having this amount of adjustment with a vast increase in airflow allows this product to be suitable for stock or aftermarket turbo inlet solutions whether manufactured from silicone or aluminium. This enables the enthusiast to interchange the adaptors depending on if its currently stock or modified. FMINDK47 will support your RS3 to literally any state of tune.   Keeping inlet air temperatures (IAT’s) low is often a difficult part of developing induction systems, and several different variations were tested with FMINDK47. We decided on keeping the OEM air inlet to feed a specifically designed heat shield which sits flush up to the bonnet. An opening on the side opposite to the engine also helps with vehicles running stage 3+, as there is indirect airflow to this area and during testing a fully closed airbox caused restrictions.   Using carbon fibre brings obvious benefits of strength, weight, and aesthetics. However, a part that is often forgotten is its low thermal conductivity, which means it reduces heat soak and transmission of heat to nearby items. Replacing metal or plastic inlet solutions for FMINDK47 will help decrease IAT’s and increase the volume of air supplied to your vehicles engine that is compressed by the turbo charger. This has a better effect on performance when cool as this is to provide the engine with more oxygen (denser air), thus improving the combustion in each cylinder. In addition, by regulating and reducing the air temperature, it also increases the reliability of an engine by keeping the AFRs (air fuel ratios) in each cylinder at a safe level, which in turn, can increase an engines power due to the air being cooler. A bigger bang is then created within the cylinder, providing the correct amount of fuel is added. This can equate to an increase in BHP and torque.  We use SolidWorks CAD, 3D prints, and numerous dyno sessions to truly unlock the power. Simulation testing played a large part in the design process to help maximise the airflow. The 3D printed prototypes helped with comparing our simulation testing to real world driving conditions. This is a valuable comparison that is used in the top tiers of motorsport, now being brought to your vehicle. Being able to test 3 different 8Y RS3’s on 3 different independent dynos has been of vital importance to our development process. One of these RS3’s was (at the time of writing) the fastest 8Y RS3 in the world making 682Whp with FMINT33, FMINLH9, FMINDK47 installed along with a TTE777 Hybrid Turbo charger, this proves the FMINDK47 has great CFM airflow ratings over the standard intake system on vehicles with such a high state of tune.   Forge x KSF YouTube Playlist  The other vehicles tested were a UK RHD 8Y running FMINT33. We then changed out from the OEM turbo inlet to FMINLH9 to confirm the differences in BHP with these extra modifications. We were also able to test on a LHD 8Y that was completely stock.   With a completely stock tune vehicle we were able to see peak gains of 6BHP. However further analysis of the dyno graph shows that this peak BHP figure was produced 200RPM earlier (6097RPM instead of 6298RPM). Additionally, the power curves were smoothed across the entirety of the rev range, with gains seen across the board. To pull out some snapshots from the rev range as examples, at 3000RPM using just FMINDK47 saw an increase of 25BHP, and at 4500RPM there was an increase of 17BHP. Torque figures saw similar gains across the rev range, with a peak torque figure increasing by 17NM at around 100RPM earlier. When we analyse the dyno graph across the rev range, at 3000RPM using just FMINDK47 saw an increase in 55NM and at 4500RPM there was an increase of 23NM.   The gains lower in the rev range are truly impressive from a driver perspective this is where the benefits can be felt and is what typically puts you in your seat when the throttle is pressed. Vehicles with a stock tune, FMINLH9 and FMINT33 already installed hit a torque limiter earlier in the rev range with the addition of FMINDK47, which in turn can limit peak power results due to the engines ECU limiting power transmitted to the gearbox. So, if you have these three products installed, we highly recommend looking to tune your vehicle to really maximise the performance of the modifications installed. It’s worth remembering that this is with a stock ECU and no tune. We know from the independent testing we also completed on mapped cars (such as KSF’s) that the Forge Motorsport products create unparalleled performance.  It’s worth noting that this induction kit offers a massive amount of air to the EA855 EVO DAZA or DNWA engine, which is a must for anyone looking to push the performance of their RS3 when tuning to stage 1, stage 2, and beyond.
